Abstract: A method and system for providing information to an application related to an occurrence at a data node. A data node may include an application running on a mobile device. The data node generates an event when it observes a predefined occurrence. The predefined occurrence may be functionality of an application, data being copied, a message being received, or the like. The event generated by the data node includes information taken from a semantic space defined by a domain but selected based at least in part on the occurrence. A request is received from an application for events meeting interest criteria specified by the application. The system determines whether to establish a subscription for the application. If it does, the system delivers events meeting interest criteria for the subscription to the subscriber application.

Abstract: A method and system for applying an operating system update to a system of a computing device. The system receives an operating system update and captures a snapshot of a device system of a device being updated. The system applies the update to the snapshot. The system causes the device being updated to boot into the updated snapshot and monitors system processes as the device is booting. If the device has successfully booted into the updated snapshot of the device system, the updated snapshot of the device system is copied to the device system. If the device has not successfully booted into the updated snapshot, the system causes the device to boot into the existing device system, which the update has not been applied to.

Abstract: A method and system for enabling a user to customize a theme for modifying a graphical user interface (GUI). The GUI comprises components that are customizable. These include icons, fonts, colors, images, etc. Themes comprise GUI elements, and a GUI element of a theme is associated with a component of a GUI. GUI elements comprise icons, colors, wallpapers, notification sounds, ringtones, etc., which are applied to components of a GUI when a theme is applied to the GUI. The system generates a theme preview for a theme, which comprises a representation of the theme applied to components of a GUI. A user can customize a theme by selecting, via an interface generated by the system, a component of a GUI, and identifying an alternate GUI element to be associated with the component in the theme.
