Patent number: 10250964Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to custom-fit in-ear audio devices. The custom-fit earpieces disclosed herein may include features providing superior retention in a user's ear while also maintaining desirable comfort and sound quality. The superior retention is generally provided by a curable filler disposed in a bladder that is deformed to conform to the shape of a user's outer ear as the filler material is cured. It has been found that a desired comfort level and sound quality can be achieved in a custom-fit earpiece by physically separating or at least partially decoupling the audio output member from other portions of the earpiece that are designed to enable the retention of the custom-fit earpiece within the user's ear.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 2017Date of Patent: April 2, 2019Assignee: LOGITECH EUROPE S.A.Inventors: Steve McGarry, Steven Warren Pooler, Steven Lee King

Patent number: 9942646Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure provided herein are configured to desirably distribute and thus withstand forces that are applied to an audio device assembly during regular use. The configurations discussed herein can be used to prevent the various device related components from becoming damaged during use. The application of these forces can cause immediate failure of the electrical connections in extreme cases, or more typically cause eventual failure of the electrical connections and device due to repetitive application of the applied force. Therefore, it is desirable to minimize the stress applied to the various electrical connection points during use, such as the electrical connection points.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 2016Date of Patent: April 10, 2018Assignee: Logitech Europe S.A.Inventors: Steve McGarry, William Christopher Carmichael, Alexander Samuel Danielson, Jeffrey Anderson

Patent number: 9736560Abstract: The present disclosure generally provides an apparatus and method of forming a liquid impermeable sealed audio speaker that can be easily manufactured and provides a high quality audio output. In an effort to overcome the shortcomings of conventional sealed speaker designs that typically utilize complicated and expensive means of shielding their electronic components from liquids and other sources of contamination, one or more of the embodiments of the disclosure provided herein include a sealed enclosure that has at least one liquid impermeable region that prevents or substantially inhibits the movement of a liquid from the exterior region into the internal region. In general, the liquid impermeable regions, or hereafter simply “liquid permeable regions,” are configured to prevent the ingress of liquids or other contaminants, while allowing the production of a desired sound quality.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2015Date of Patent: August 15, 2017Assignee: Logitech Europe S.A.Inventors: Steve McGarry, Steven Warren Pooler, Donald Robert Mayette
