Abstract: Systems and methods related to an electronic communications system expansion device. The device includes a control input/output interface, a first bus interface, a second bus interface, and an electronic processor. The processor is configured to, when operating in the expander mode, receive, from a control panel, a first communication according to a first communications protocol at the control input/output interface, and output, from both the first serial communications bus interface and the second serial communications bus interface, the first communication according to a second communications protocol, the second communications protocol being a wired communications protocol.
