  • Patent number: 6939158
Abstract: A method and apparatus for improving the co-planarity between conductive structures exposed in an interface connector for a portable electronic device. The interface connector includes an elongate housing having a front surface and a bottom surface. The front surface is configured to be at least partially exposed at a peripheral portion of the portable electronic device. The front surface defines port openings in the elongate housing and the bottom surface defines plate openings therein. The plate openings are configured to receive and retain conductive structures and are configured to be at least partially exposed at the bottom surface of the elongate housing and at least partially exposed at the port openings to provide electrical interconnection to the portable electronic device. With this arrangement, the conductive structures in the interface connector are substantially co-planar with each other to provide improved and more reliable electrical interconnection with the portable electronic device.

  • Publication number: 20040083181
Abstract: An apparatus and method for creating negotiable items includes, in a system including a network of a governing authority and at least one remote printer, a secure indicia authorized by the governing authority. A preprinted form, authorized by the governing authority, transformable into a negotiable item upon the application of the secure indicia at the remote printer is provided. Further, a database, controlled by the governing authority, for issuing the secure indicia and the preprinted form and accounting for the use of each at the at least one remote printer oversees the creation of the negotiable item.

  • Publication number: 20030167244
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system for optimizing package weight comprising a delivery fee table correlating package weight to delivery cost and a processor configured to calculate a first total weight of a package on the basis of individual components of the package. The processor is also configured to identify a target weight based on the first total weight and the delivery fee table, identify one or more weight changing alternatives for at least one individual component of the package, and determine if the weight changing alternative should be implemented. The processor is also configured to determine a second total weight of the package.
