Patent number: 10987086Abstract: An intravascular ultrasound imaging system comprises a catheter having an elongated body having a distal end and an imaging core arranged to be inserted into the elongated body. The imaging core is arranged to transmit ultrasonic energy pulses and to receive reflected ultrasonic energy pulses. The system further includes an imaging engine coupled to the imaging core and arranged to provide the imaging core with energy pulses to cause the imaging core to transmit the ultrasonic energy pulses. The energy pulses are arranged in repeated sequences and the energy pulses of each sequence have varying characteristics. The reflected pulses may be processed to provide a composite image of images resulting from each different characteristic.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2017Date of Patent: April 27, 2021Assignee: ACIST Medical Systems, Inc.Inventors: Thomas C. Publication number: 20190284674Abstract: A method of forming a wear resistant and galling resistant coating for abrasive environments and a feed material for the method are disclosed. The feed material is for forming a wear resistant and galling resistant coating on a substrate by a welding process that heats the feed and the substrate. The feed material comprises 35 to 50 wt % titanium nitride particles and a balance of commercially pure titanium or titanium alloy particles and incidental impurities. The method involves delivering the feed material to a surface of a substrate and exposing the feed material and the substrate to sufficient energy to cause at least the commercially pure titanium or titanium alloy particles in the feed to melt and at least some of the titanium nitride particles in the feed to melt, thereby forming a melt pool. On solidification of the melt pool, at least some of the titanium nitride particles are embedded in a matrix formed from melt pool, thereby forming a wear resistant and galling resistant coating on the substrate.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 7, 2019Publication date: September 19, 2019Applicant: BRENCO SURFACE ENGINEERING PTY LTDInventors: Sean COLLIER, Steve REYNOLDS

Patent number: 6146406Abstract: A bone anchor includes first and second anchoring legs and a bridge joining the anchoring legs between their proximal and distal ends. Portions of the anchoring legs on a proximal side of the bridge are configured to elastically compress together in response to an insertion force applied to the bone anchor during insertion of the bone anchor into a bone hole, and to plastically splay apart in response to a withdrawal force applied to the bone anchor. Portions of the anchoring legs on a distal side of the bridge are configured to compress together in during application of the withdrawal force to limit the splaying of the proximal portions of the anchoring legs. A method for attaching soft tissue to bone includes inserting the bone anchor with attached suture into the bone, and deploying the bone anchor within the bone by applying tension to the suture.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 1998Date of Patent: November 14, 2000Assignee: Smith & Nephew, Inc.Inventors: Alan E. Patent number: 5495980Abstract: A method and apparatus for the lining of rounded arcuate chamber areas is disclosed. One edge of a flexible, rectangular sheet of lining material is attached to the substrate wall of the chamber by welding. The opposite end from the now attached side is compressed laterally to bow the sheet into contact with the wall. Keeper welds or attachments are made, trapping the compressive force. The installers are now free to complete the seam welds around the periphery of the sheet. In the preferred embodiment, the sheet is made of a high nickel alloy (HNA) and the arcuate chamber is a desulfurization duct or absorber tower. Successive sheets are overlapped approximately one inch on the sides and top/bottom.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 1994Date of Patent: March 5, 1996Inventor: Steve Reynolds
