  • Patent number: 6574822
Abstract: A dual brush assembly has a detail brush that is removably attached to a scrub brush. The scrub brush has a footing to which a bristle block is attached. The bristle block includes a plurality of brush bristles that form a substantially flat bristle surface and a curved bristle surface. The detail brush has a brush head with a plurality of bristles forming a smaller surface area than the curved bristle surface and forming a substantially smaller surface area than the flat bristle surface. The detail brush conformably fits into a recess in a grip of the scrub brush, and the recess has a sloped surface to receive the brush head. The detail brush also has a pressure pad that flares out to cover the brush head. In the attached position, the pressure pad substantially covers the recess and provides a ridge for detaching the detail brush from the scrub brush. In the detached position, the pressure pad provides a platform for a user's thumb or forefinger.

  • Publication number: 20030000037
Abstract: The present invention is a new and unique device which allows a brush to be securely attached to a container. A wedge plate is located at the brush head and in line with the handle. Offset from the handle is a base plate. The base plate is wider and longer than the wedge plate. When forced onto the rim of a bucket the invention flattens a region of the rim between the base plate and the wedge plate. This creates three points of contact with the brush—one on the outside of the bucket and two flanking the first but on the inside of the bucket.

  • Patent number: 6499175
Abstract: The present invention is a combination scrub brush, for use with or without a shaft, that presents a finished appearance regardless of whether or not the shaft is in use. The brush includes a grip, a base plate, and a bristle block holding several bristles formed into a substantially flat bristle surface and a curved bristle surface. The base plate is attached lengthwise to the grip, and the grip has a shaft line that is parallel to and offset from the base plate. An internal screw thread in the grip allows the user to attach a shaft to the grip so that otherwise inaccessible surfaces can be cleaned. When the shaft is not in use, a plug inserted into the grip provides a finished appearance to the brush. The plug includes a slot and loop combination used to secure the plug to the grip when the plug is removed and the shaft is installed. The slot and loop combination can also be used to store the entire brush when the shaft is removed and the plug is installed.

  • Patent number: 6485822
Abstract: A multi-layer combination sponge includes a scrubbing layer and a cleaning layer that are each laminated to an intermediate layer. The intermediate layer is more compressible than the cleaning layer and the scrubbing layer, and a groove is formed around a perimeter of the sponge between the cleaning layer and the scrubbing layer. The layers are preferably coextensive, forming a nose portion at the front of the combination sponge and having rounded comers at the rear of the combination sponge. The cleaning and intermediate layers each have an approximately equal thickness, and the scrubbing layer has a thickness less than one-half as thick as either the cleaning layer or the intermediate layer.
