  • Patent number: 11193693
Abstract: A sound suppression chamber for a heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) air handling assembly including a first end, a second end, and a middle portion. The first end includes an aperture that resonates with airflow from the HVAC air handling assembly, the airflow from the HVAC air handling assembly generating an incident sound wave corresponding to a target tone. The second end is closed and opposite the first end. The middle portion extends between the first end and the second end. The first end, the second end, and the middle portion defining a cavity of the sound suppression chamber. The sound suppression chamber generates a reflected wave that is 180 degrees out of phase from the incident sound wave and reflected into the HVAC air handling assembly through the aperture to suppress the target tone.

  • Patent number: 10473120
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a centrifugal blower assembly that includes a centrifugal fan and a scroll casing housing the centrifugal fan. The scroll casing includes a scroll starting position, a scroll ending position and an air passage extending between the scroll starting and ending positions. The scroll ending position is downstream from the scroll starting position relative to airflow through the scroll casing. The centrifugal blower assembly further includes an air outlet extending from the scroll ending position and a plurality of resonators mounted on an exterior surface of the air outlet. Each of the plurality of tuned resonators has respective cavities in fluid communication with inside of the air outlet. Each of the cavities has respective different volumes, heights, widths, and/or lengths from each other.

  • Patent number: 8783413
Abstract: The present teachings provide for an airflow sound suppressor, such as for an HVAC assembly, for example. The sound suppressor includes a first end configured to be mounted to a first surface of the HVAC assembly. A second end of the sound suppressor is configured to be mounted to a second surface of the HVAC assembly. An elongated portion extends between the first end and the second end. The elongated portion defines a passageway therethrough that extends an entire length of the sound suppressor.
