Patent number: 8732284Abstract: A method for sharing a common computing system among multiple users is disclosed. A user can perform a login process during which an input data, such as a user name or a password can be entered by the user to access a session. The user name and/or the password are then serialized into an object or a set of objects. If the serialized object or objects are authentic, a session is created and the session properties of the session are defined. Any applications that are subsequently executed during the session remain active after the session is switched out.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 2006Date of Patent: May 20, 2014Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Steve Williamson, Kevin Armstrong

Patent number: 7640846Abstract: The invention relates to a brewed beverage maker with a diverter valve assembly placed between a heater and a showerhead, the diverter valve assembly fluidly connected to both the heater and showerhead. Opening the beverage maker during a brew cycle automatically causes at least a portion of the fluid passing through the diverter valve assembly to be diverted to a channel that directs the fluid to a point downstream of the showerhead in the brew cycle. In one embodiment of the invention, the diverted fluid is directed to a filter basket. The channel may optionally include a basin to collect and direct the diverted fluid. The outlet of the diverter valve assembly may form the showerhead.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2006Date of Patent: January 5, 2010Assignee: Hamilton Beach Brands, Inc.Inventors: Steve Williamson, William D. Starr, David Hawks, Rong Liu

Patent number: 7540232Abstract: A brew basket for a hot beverage maker has a funnel-shape with a relatively wide top end and relatively narrow bottom end. A stepped support ring is integral in and defines a ledge around a circumference of the brew basket. A filter pod is supported on its periphery by the support ring during brewing. An adaptor can be integrally attached to the brew basket to give a user an option to place a second filter pod in the brew basket to yield more or stronger brewed beverage.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2005Date of Patent: June 2, 2009Assignee: Hamilton Beach Brands, Inc.Inventors: Roy Bates, Steve Williamson, William D. Publication number: 20080216663Abstract: The invention relates to a dispensing assembly for a coffee maker, such as a high capacity coffee urn, where the dispensing assembly includes an upper and lower body, a valve seat, a valve lever, and a valve seal. Pivoting the valve lever selectively engages the valve seal to lift it up and off the valve seat. In one preferred embodiment, the coffee maker/urn includes an actuatable button that is connected, via a linking mechanism, to the dispensing assembly. The linking mechanism transmits force applied to the actuating button so that the valve lever is engaged. An optional filter may be located adjacent to, and upstream from, the valve seal. The dispensing assembly is assembled as an integrated unit to provide a more robust dispensing apparatus that reduces or eliminates the likelihood of leaking from the valve. The dispensing assembly, therefore, provides pause and serve-type functionality for large capacity urns or standard coffee makers.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 9, 2007Publication date: September 11, 2008Inventor: Steve Williamson

Patent number: 6586710Abstract: A coffee maker heater/warmer plate assembly includes a spring wire clamp that retains the flow-through heater centered against the bottom of the warmer plate. The spring clamp has ends that are attached to a support ring. The clamp engages a flow-through heater and biases it against the bottom of a warmer plate that is retained by the support ring.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2001Date of Patent: July 1, 2003Assignee: Hamilton Beach/Proctor-Silex, Inc.Inventor: Steve Williamson

Patent number: 6061910Abstract: A individual, unattached framing stud comprises a wooden, elongate framing member having at least one through-hole for receiving a service line, such as electrical wiring. A metal safety or protective plate is preferably secured to a side edge of the framing member at a position transverse to the through-hole, so as to prevent the penetration of fasteners or the like which might otherwise damage the service line received in the through-hole. The framing stud is constructed by forming at least one through-hole in the framing member and securing the safety plate in position prior to affixing the framing stud within the frame of the structure.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1998Date of Patent: May 16, 2000Inventor: Steve Williamson
