Publication number: 20240065458Abstract: A storage system is configured for adjustable suspension from fixed points on a vertical wall, such as from fixed tie-down loops that are rigidly and permanently affixed to the wall of a shipping container. The system includes a plurality of pivotable arms that may have attached thereto shelves or other planar panels and may be variably positioned to provide vertical storage panels, flat work surfaces (such as a desk surface), or upwardly angled support posts, for example, for hanging items such as cables, ropes, pipe sections, and the like. A suspension assembly for the storage system enables hanging suspension of the system at any desired location along the length of the vertical wall, despite the location of the fixed loops from which the system is ultimately suspended.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 22, 2023Publication date: February 29, 2024Inventors: Steven Pryor, Jodi Shaw, Brian Kavanagh, Lawrence Berger, Gregg Sheddy, Corey Salemi, Jeff Bowers, Matt Mangosing, Michael Elling Zimmerman

Patent number: 10063519Abstract: In one embodiment, a rule optimization application optimizes a rule set that a firewall applies to protect web applications from on-line attacks. The rule optimization application identifies a completed filtering operation that is associated with applying a rule to a request to access a web application received from a client. The rule optimization application then estimates a quality score for the rule based on the completed filtering operation and a reputation value for the client that indicates a likelihood that the client is legitimate. Subsequently, the rule optimization application determines that the quality score does not satisfy a predetermined quality criterion and disables the rule in the rule set to generate a updated, optimized rule set for the web application. Advantageously, the quality criterion may configure the rule optimization application to automatically update the rule set to reduce the number of legitimate requests that are blocked by the rule set.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2017Date of Patent: August 28, 2018Assignee: VERISIGN, INC.Inventors: Yujie Zhao, Steven Bowers, Sivasankar Subramanian, Suresh Bhogavilli

Patent number: 9723055Abstract: A broadband communication system with improved latency is disclosed. The system employs acceleration of secure web-based communications over a satellite communication network. In accordance with aspects of the invention, secure protocol acceleration is employed such that required protocol signals transmitted from a computer employing a web browser may be intercepted by a remote terminal. To insure that the browser will continue transmitting data, the remote terminal generates required acknowledgment and security signals to continue the secure communication, which may then transmitted back to the computer. Meanwhile, the received protocol signals may be converted by the remote terminal for transmission through the satellite communications system in a format appropriate for that communication medium. Aspects of the invention further include a hub or similar device for communicating with the satellite communications system.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2014Date of Patent: August 1, 2017Assignee: Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd.Inventors: Aditya N. Chatterjee, Roberto Guimaraes, Hanny P. Kadrichu, Steven Bowers

Patent number: 9686070Abstract: A method for sending a data from an electromagnetic radiator by polarization modulation of an electromagnetic wave includes radiating from the radiator first and second electromagnetic waves including first and second polarizations respectively, the first polarization being different than the second polarization. The first and second electromagnetic waves form a third electromagnetic wave having a third polarization different from the first or second polarization. The method includes modulating the third polarization responsive to the data by modulating one or more parts of the third electromagnetic wave. The data is sent in the third polarization. A system for sending a data includes an oscillator adapted to generate an oscillating signal, and a phase shifter coupled to the oscillator and adapted to generate a first phase-shifted oscillating signal having a first phase. The phase shifter is adapted to vary the phase difference across a predefined range in response to the data.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2013Date of Patent: June 20, 2017Assignee: CALIFORNIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGYInventors: Steven Bowers, Kaushik Dasgupta, Amirreza Safaripour Tabbalvandani, Seyed Ali Hajimiri

Patent number: 9621269Abstract: A multi-port radiator radiates electromagnetic signal in response to a beat frequency of a pair of optical signals. The radiator includes a multitude of optical paths each carrying an optical signal having first and second wavelengths. A multitude of frequency conversion elements convert the optical signals to electrical signals and deliver them to the radiator's multiple ports. The frequency of the electrical signals, and hence the frequency of the electromagnetic wave, is defined by the difference between the first and second wavelengths. The phases of the optical signals received by the frequency conversion elements are shifted with respect to one another. Optionally, the difference between the phases of the optical signals travelling through each pair of adjacent paths is 90°. The first and second wavelengths are generated by a pair of optical sources and are optionally modulated before being combined and delivered to the optical paths.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 2013Date of Patent: April 11, 2017Assignee: CALIFORNIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGYInventors: Steven Bowers, Firooz Aflatouni, Behrooz Abiri, Seyed Ali Hajimiri
