  • Publication number: 20020021816
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a motor assembly for an acoustic transducer is provided. The motor assembly includes a base member, a support member, a diaphragm and a backplate. The base member has a surface and a protrusion extending a distance from the surface. The support member has an opening therethrough, and the diaphragm is connected to the support member such that the diaphragm covers a portion of the opening of the support member. The support member is placed on the base member such that the support member contacts the surface of the base member, and the protrusion of the base member contacts the diaphragm. The backplate is placed on the diaphragm such that the backplate is supported by the protrusion. As part of the assembly, the backplate is secured to the support member. By having an assembly wherein the backplate does not contact the diaphragm, the capacitance of the assembly is reduced.

  • Patent number: 6131848
Abstract: A roadable airplane consists of a single-seat three-wheeled vehicle with wing panels hung longitudinally on the sides of the chassis for road use and attached transversely to a spar box for flight. A power train is used that enables the simultaneous powering of two rear wheels and an overhead pusher propeller for transition from road to air travel. A transaxle for a four-wheel automotive vehicle was found to be advantageously suitable for this purpose. Multiple gears and differential outputs drive the wheels, providing a normal automotive performance on the road. Multiple gears are also available to drive the propeller, thereby providing the function of variable-pitch performance using a fixed-pitch propeller. The vehicle includes a standard automotive gear shift and pedal controls for clutch, brake and accelerator operation; a novel joystick assembly is used to steer the front wheel and to control wing flaps, an elevator and a rudder.

  • Patent number: 6106966
Abstract: A single-crystal solid oxide material, rather than a polycrystalline ceramic, is used for electrolytic and fuel-cell applications. For the electrolytic production of oxygen from carbon dioxide, a yttria-stabilized zirconia crystal is coated with platinum electrodes and encased in a platinum structure to provide a thermally stable electrolytic cell. A multilayered device is constructed by stacking crystals and spacers in alternating arrangement and by plumbing the active surfaces of the crystals in parallel through perforations drilled directly in the solid-oxide crystals, so that manifolding and sealing problems are minimized.

  • Patent number: 4111353
Abstract: A partitioned tray, formed having a bottom wall, side walls, and end walls, are folded into a tray configuration, having an opened top, with a series of both laterally and longitudinally arranged partitions contained within the tray extending upwardly from its bottom wall. The ends of each side wall incorporate foldable tabs therewith, with said tabs arranged for disposition intermediate a pair of foldably connected panels forming each of the tray end walls. One panel of each double panel end wall is foldably connected to the end edge of the bottom wall, while the other panel of the double panel end wall secures to an aperture or slot provided in the bottom wall for retention of the end and side walls into the tray configuration. A plurality of such trays are stackable, one upon the other, and insertable within a container, as for storage or shipment.
