  • Patent number: 6310982
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing noise and motion artifacts in pixels of a processed or displayed video image by filtering pixel values of the video image based on a first frame having currently stored (filtered) pixel values and a second frame having recently captured but not yet filtered pixel values. The apparatus includes a spatial filter for computing a motion value of a pixel of interest by averaging difference values of selected pixels surrounding the pixel of interest. Also included is a filter function means for producing an output difference value of the pixel of interest based on the motion value and an adder for adding the output difference value to the first frame filtered pixel value of the pixel of interest. Thus, each pixel of the video image is filtered according to the amount of motion in the video image.

  • Patent number: 6238232
Abstract: The invention allows for an increase in termination density for customer cable pairs in electronic cabinets, building terminals, and protectors and switching equipment terminations in central offices by providing a connector module is provided having a first insulating housing cap including a row of slots and a row of contact cavities defined within the first housing cap by contact guiding walls. Each slot is adapted for receiving a wire and each cavity is arranged in open communication with one of the slots and has a first orientation relative to the slots. A second insulating housing cap including a row of slots and a row of contact cavities defined within the second housing cap by contact guiding walls. Each slot is adapted for receiving a wire and each cavity being arranged in open communication with one of the slots and has a second orientation relative to the slots. A row of contacts are mounted within the first and second housing caps.

  • Patent number: 6104780
Abstract: A mobile, bi-planar fluoroscopic imaging apparatus has first and second imaging systems disposed on first and second C-arms. The C-arms are preferably disposed on wheeled bases allowing for movement from one place to another. Alternatively, the first C-arm is large and disposed on a wheeled base while the second C-arm is smaller and disposed on the first C-arm such that it nests. A controller sends trigger pulses to the imaging systems causing the systems to alternate operation. Alternatively, the first and second systems are configured in a master/slave relationship with the master system sending triggering pulses to the slave. A display continuously displays the images produced by the imaging systems such that an image produced by the first system is displayed while the second system operated to produce an image and vis versa. A storage device stored the images as they are produced and later delivers the images to the display for viewing.

  • Patent number: 5805404
Abstract: A modular connector block system used for making terminations of telephone circuit wires. The system enables terminal blocks of different size and density to be formed utilizing similar insulated housings and hardware. Connector modules having multiple pairs of insulation displacement connecting (IDC) terminals, for example, 8 or 10 pair per module, are insertable into a mounting bracket to form the double-sided connecting block. The 8 and 10-pair connector modules utilize an identical insulated housing to save on tooling costs. The same mounting hardware may also be utilized for either module. In addition, certain accessories, such as, circuit protection modules and terminal caps, used for enclosing the terminations, are likewise insertable onto either connector module. Each type of accessory shares an essentially identical housing, which further saves a manufacturer in terms of tooling costs and number of different components that must be produced.

  • Patent number: 5705980
Abstract: Security officers (38) can be summoned to help a person (28) in distress, by providing portable pagers (40) to a group of officers assigned to a protected area (26). A person entering the area carries an alarm unit (30) which, when actuated, transmits an emergency signal. When the emergency signal is received at a station (12, 32), the person's location is determined. All the security officers are then located by transmitting a location inquiry signal, and determining the officers' locations using location signals emitted from their pagers (40) in response to the inquiry signal. An officer nearest the person is identified, and an assistance order signal conveys the person's location to the officer's pager. If the officer does not manually activate his/her pager to confirm receipt of the person's location, by transmitting an acknowledgment signal during an interval following the order signal, the latter is re-transmitted to other officers near the person until an acknowledgment signal is detected.
