  • Publication number: 20140268967
Abstract: A multi-level power converter system includes a multi-level power converter configured to synthesize at least three direct current (DC) voltages into an alternating current (AC) output voltage, and includes a plurality of transistors. A controller generates pulse-width modulation (PWM) signals used to control a state of the plurality of transistors of the multi-level converter by comparing first and second carrier signals to a reference signals, wherein a period of the first and second carrier signals is randomly varied from a nominal period.

  • Publication number: 20140268948
Abstract: A power converter system includes an interleaved power converter having a plurality of parallel-connected phase legs between DC terminals and an AC terminal. A plurality of parallel-connected inductors are each connected to one of the plurality of parallel-connected phase legs to provide a summed output of the parallel-connected phase legs to the AC terminal. A controller generates PWM signals used to control the state of each of the plurality of phase legs by comparing a carrier signal to a reference signal, wherein a period of the carrier signal is randomly varied from a nominal period.

  • Publication number: 20130088970
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for transmitting, from a radio, over a router-to-radio interface, a first transmission-on signal indicating to a router that data packets can be sent to the radio for transmission in a network, and transmitting, from the radio over the router-to-radio interface, a first transmission-off signal indicating to the router that data packet transmission should be suspended until receipt of a second transmission-on signal, wherein the first transmission-on signal and the first transmission-off signal are generated in a network layer of the seven-layer OSI model.

  • Patent number: 8023245
Abstract: A lightning mitigation system for use on an aircraft employs parasitic capacitance associated with a motor/generator to dissipate voltage provided as a result of a lightning strike. The motor/generator includes a set of windings defined by an outer periphery and a case that surrounds the set of windings. A parasitic capacitance is defined by the airgap separating the windings of the motor/generator from the case. A motor controller is electrically connected to the set of windings and includes a filter circuit. The filter circuit includes an equivalent capacitance that is selected based on the parasitic capacitance associated with the motor/generator such that a lightning strike results in a large portion of the voltage being dissipated by the parasitic capacitance of the motor/generator.

  • Patent number: 6270446
Abstract: The disclosed invention is an exercise device being capable of providing aerobic exercise and abdominal muscle conditioning. The device is comprised of an upper frame and a lower frame. The upper frame includes a seat back which supports the upper portion of the torso of a user. The lower frame includes a pelvis support and a bicycle pedaling mechanism. The preferred embodiment includes a linkage system that connects the upper frame to the lower frame. This linkage is capable of providing a translating center of rotation when the upper frame rotates with respect to the lower frame. This is done to follow the body's translating center of rotation during trunk flexion. An alternative to the preferred embodiment includes a arcuate roller attached to the upper frame. This arcuate roller is preferably received by a track on the lower frame, and though preferable, the track is not necessary in order to achieve a translating center of rotation and therefore not necessary to the function of the invention.
