  • Patent number: 4533203
Abstract: Connector for right angle printed circuit board interface comprises two-piece dielectric housing with right angle contact elements therein each having a first arm and a second arm with respective first and second ends. First ends are pins fixed to a daughter card while second ends are compliant with surface contacts on a mother board. Compliance is provided by lateral flexure of first arms while the second arms move axially as second ends bear against surface contact. The second arms have bearing portions at an oblique angle to the board which are resiliently disposed against like angled surfaces in the housing so that second ends shift laterally during application to provide wiping. An aligning fixture on the mother board also serves as keying means.

  • Patent number: 4429247
Abstract: Nodal contacts for piezoelectric audio transducer comprise an annular surface in a conductive housing member which is attached resiliently to a circuit board. The transducer is clamped resiliently between the annular surface and first and second contacts mounted to the board. The first contact is situated on a semicircular wall which forms a resonant cavity and the second contact is situated on a post in an aperture defined by the wall. An alternative embodiment utilizes a plastic housing member with slots in the top thereof which allow resilience of the annular surface.

  • Patent number: 4375311
Abstract: Connector for in-line electrical device utilizes a pair of binding post type terminals mounted in a housing. The posts have coplanar diametric slots profiled in free ends thereof and lying in the longitudinal center plane of the housing. Caps profiled to screw onto the posts for termination each have an axial dowel therein sized to prevent the slots from collapsing as the caps are screwed down.

  • Patent number: 4365230
Abstract: Variable resistor comprises a lead screw 12 rotatably mounted to substrate 42 by conductive mounts 18, 18' and engaging a one-piece stamped and formed sheet metal slider 16 movable along circuit trace 20 in response to rotation of the screw 12. The lead screw 12 is a conductive plastic and thus acts as a resistance element, the resistance between the mounts 18, 18' and the circuit trace 20 being varied by rotating the screw 12. Mounts 18, 18' have spring-loaded arms 34, 36 which releasably retain the lead screw 12 so it may be replaced if it is desired to change the resistance limits of the device.

  • Patent number: 4336646
Abstract: Apparatus comprises a plug holder having a passage therein profiled to axially receive a plug body with a metal sleeve preassembled thereto. Neck dies slideably mounted in the holder move radially inward to shear sleeve and crimp it into a circumferential recess in the plug body and a nose die slideably mounted in the holder moves axially inward to form the sleeve to a tapered leading end of the plug.

  • Patent number: 4335930
Abstract: A phone plug having axially aligned discrete first and second conductive surfaces thereon which are assembled to conductors without the use of tools comprises a tip member, a dielectric plug body, a tubular sleeve, and a grip. The tip member is inserted into a bore in the plug body to terminate one of the conductors inserted from the opposite end and the sleeve is slid over the plug body to terminate the other conductor. A grip is then slid over the assembly to lock the sleeve in position and provide strain relief for the cable. An alternative embodiment may be terminated to conductors having standard electrical terminals.

  • Patent number: 4325599
Abstract: A phone plug is disclosed having an elongated dielectric plug body with electrically conductive surfaces situated coaxially in tandem thereon. The plug body has bores entering from one end to communicate with discrete areas on the surface of the plug body, whereby pre-stripped conductors are fed into the bores until the exposed ends protrude at the areas, an apertured tubular sleeve of conductive material is slid over the body, and the sleeve is sheared at the apertures and crimped to form isolated conductive surfaces on the discrete areas of the plug.

  • Patent number: 4318073
Abstract: Temperature sensor in plug form comprises a plastic body member having a bore with a metallic sensing member in one end, a thermistor in the bore, and a contact member with a spring portion in the bore and a contact portion extending through a slot in the body member from the bore to the other end of the body. Contact portion has electrical terminal for wire attachment and spring portion maintains contact with thermistor. Sensing member has retaining arms which extend into grooves in threaded cylindrical surface of body which are threaded as body is screwed into place in an engine block.

  • Patent number: 4308659
Abstract: Block loader for inserting a plurality of terminated wire leads one at a time into a connector block by delivering wires laterally of their axes to a pair of feed wheels which engage the wire to drive it through a tunnel formed by the closure of a profiled lid against a platform and into a terminal receiving cavity in a connector block. Operations of lateral wire delivery, lid closure, and engagement of feed wheels to wire are effected by the linear motion of a single cam carriage in a single stroke without the use of switches or pneumatic actuators.
