Publication number: 20240091449Abstract: An autoinjector and method of injection are described. A power spring causes rotation of a drive nut about the central axis of the autoinjector that, in turn, causes a middle screw to rotate in the same direction as the drive nut and also to move in the distal direction while pushing a center screw in the distal direction that pushes the syringe and needle. The center screw also pushes a plunger that pushes the fluid out of the syringe. After injection, a locked retract screw is freed and rotates in the same direction as the middle screw causing the syringe to retract the syringe into the housing.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 25, 2023Publication date: March 21, 2024Inventors: William G. Atterbury, Timothy M. Blum, David A. Holley, John P. Tallarico, Steven M. Madland

Publication number: 20110071479Abstract: A surgical instrument for administering fluids and having a vessel entry indicator to confirm proper placement of the surgical instrument within the vessel includes a vessel access member adapted for accessing a blood vessel and having insertion and trailing ends. The access member defines a primary lumen for administering fluids to the blood vessel and a secondary lumen. A pressure detector is in fluid communication with the secondary lumen. The pressure detector is adapted to detect pressure associated with a disposition of the insertion end of the access member in the blood vessel. The access member may define a port adjacent the leading end and in fluid communication with the secondary lumen. In one embodiment, the secondary lumen is independent of the primary lumen. The pressure detector may include a float valve responsive to pressure of blood entering from the blood vessel through the port and into the secondary lumen. In the alternative, the pressure detector includes a pressure gauge.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 23, 2009Publication date: March 24, 2011Applicant: Tyco Healthcare Group LPInventors: Steven A. Patent number: 6585767Abstract: A suturing ring to attach the body of an implantable heart valve to heart tissue by sutures is composed of a fabric containing an inorganic antimicrobial agent. The fabric can have a material coating the fibers of the fabric in which particles of the agent are embedded. The coating material can be elastomeric and the fabric porous, to improve its flexibility, or non-porous and the fabric ring can be coated with a tissue compatible substance such as collagen. One type of ring has an annular top part to fit over one of top and bottom surfaces of the valve body and defining an opening to the heart valve, a step wall depending from the annular top part to extend along said valve body wall and an outwardly extending flange through which the sutures are to be sewn.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 1998Date of Patent: July 1, 2003Assignee: AgION Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Steven Holley, John E. Patent number: 6296863Abstract: A medical graft, such as a vascular graft, made of a fabric containing an inorganic antimicrobial agent. The fabric has a coating material with the inorganic antimicrobial agent bonded to it, the agent preferably being a zeolite. The fabric can be porous so as to permit tissue to grow on it with the fabric pores providing attachment sites for the tissue. Alternatively, the fabric can be coated with a tissue biocompatible material, such as collagen. A porous fabric applicable for the graft, and for other medical uses, and a method of manufacturing the porous fabric having a coating thereon to which is bonded an antimicrobial agent, such as a zeolite, also is provided. The fabric is antimicrobial, remains pliable, and is also porous.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 1998Date of Patent: October 2, 2001Assignee: Agion Technologies, LLCInventors: Jeffrey A.
