  • Patent number: 9902433
Abstract: Venting modules for vehicle compartment covers, methods for making and methods for using such venting modules, and motor vehicles with a vented compartment cover assembly are disclosed. Disclosed, for example, is a venting module for a vehicle compartment cover assembly. The compartment cover assembly includes a center panel and a closure panel, which mounts to a motor vehicle. The venting module includes an arcuate carrier frame that seats within a window of the closure panel and circumscribes most or all of the center panel. A support flange projects from the carrier frame and attaches to the center panel of the compartment cover assembly. An attachment tab projects from the carrier frame and attaches to the closure panel of the compartment cover assembly. A mesh screen is attached to the carrier frame. The mesh screen includes a lattice mesh structure with an interstice array having a predetermined thermal venting area.

  • Patent number: 9809097
Abstract: Disclosed are vehicle seal retainers, methods for making and methods for using vehicle seal retainers, and motor vehicles with pillar seal retainers. Disclosed, for example, is a seal retainer carrier for mounting a seal structure between the outer applique and body structure of a motor vehicle. The seal structure includes a flexible body with two seal lips. The outer applique has a tab and a flange. The seal retainer carrier includes a base attached to the vehicle's body structure. A first interface flange projects from the base and attaches to the outer applique's flange. A second interface flange projects from the base and includes a protruding rib attached to a second seal lip. This rib fits into a recessed groove of the seal structure such that the seal mounts between the outer applique and body structure with a hook of a first seal lip seated against the outer applique's tab.

  • Patent number: 6419017
Abstract: A method of preventing gas breakthrough in an oil well, which includes first pumping a slug of an alkaline earth salt into the well bore, followed by a slug of spacer solution, and finally a slug of a fatty acid resin. The resin can comprise at least one fatty acid, a fat (or tall oil), and other components. The resin and alkaline earth salt advantageously react in situ to form a water and gas insoluble precipitate or gum that forms a sealing zone around the oil/gas interface of the well bore, and also allows the oil to dissolve the precipitate to facilitate recovery of the oil.
