Abstract: An information processing system is provided which includes a plurality of system resources, and an event queue having a predetermined number of entries. An event recording mechanism of the information processing system is operable to make entries regarding events in the event queue, wherein the entries are limited to a predetermined number of active entries in the event queue per each type of event per each of the system resources. In a particular embodiment, the number of entries per each type of event for each of the system resources is limited to one.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for switching data packet flows by assigning schedules to guaranteed delay and bandwidth traffic. Scheduled bandwidth is subtracted from the available bandwidth, and the remaining unscheduled bandwidth is available for standard “best-efforts” packet transmissions, or other guaranteed packet flows. Guaranteed bandwidth is assigned on a schedule basis, and packet flows are assigned schedules which are mutually acceptable to both transmitters and receivers. Flows transmit and expect to receive packets in accordance with their assigned schedules. Schedules are negotiated between packet transmitter applications and packet receiver applications. During scheduled periods, packets sent by the packet transmitter are directly and immediately forwarded to the assigned packet receiver.

Abstract: A method and apparatus tracks packets and reliably transmits data over a computer transmission system with a reduced amount of memory needed in the transmission interface. The invention eliminates the need to keep all the packets of data queued until the acknowledge message for that data has arrived. Instead, it keeps track of how many packets have been sent and which packets correspond to the end of a message, marking them off when acknowledge messages are received. If packets are lost, the invention determines which packet were lost, backs up to the lost packet, re-fetches the data and resends it. Embodiments of the present invention eliminate the need to queue packets, reducing silicon size and allowing the available bandwidth of the output bus to be more fully utilized.

The optical measuring unit is configured and operable for irradiating a region of interest in a patient's ear with incident light including at least two different wavelengths, detecting light responses of the region of interest to said at least two different wavelengths, and producing measured data indicative thereof. The at least two different wavelengths are selected such that the light response of the region of interest to at least one first wavelength is substantially independent of said predetermined condition and the light response to at least one second wavelength is affected by said predetermined condition.

Abstract: A system and method for creating a graphical program which accesses registers of a hardware device. In one embodiment, a register access node or primitive may be included in a graphical program, such that when the graphical program is executed on the computer system, the register access node is operable to access (i.e., either read or write) registers of a hardware device in the computer system. The method may comprise first displaying a register access node in the graphical program in response to user input. For example, the user may select the register access node from a palette and drag and drop the register access node onto a window of the graphical program being created. Modules may be deployed to extend outwardly from the lift, for viewing the wheel during an alignment procedure, or retract to a adjacent the lift for stowing. A protective cover extends above the sensing modules in the retracted position.

Abstract: A film-forming composition formed by solubilizing higher concentrations of polyanhydride resins using a mixture of a fatty acid triglyceride derivative and a diester of 2-Octanol and Adipic Acid. In one embodiment, a composition in accordance with the invention comprises between about 1% and 55% by weight of Furandione (2,5)-Polymer with 1-Octadecene; between about 10% and 35% by weight of Dicapryl Adipate; and between about 10% and 35% by weight of Methyl Acetyl Ricinoleate. Such a composition may impart a water resistant property to oil-in-water and water-in-oil emulsions, and to anhydrous solid and semi-solid preparations, while remaining solubilized, stable and pourable at 25° C.
