  • Publication number: 20230220668
Abstract: A method of using a hanger for supporting a load from an underside of a metal decking is described. The metal decking has a trough with a first groove opposing a second groove, and the hanger includes a flexible body which has an unflexed length that is greater than the groove spacing and is adapted to accept a load from a rod, cable, or wire. The method includes inserting the load support assembly through the aperture; contacting the first end of the body with the first groove of the metal decking; flexing the body to decrease the distance between the first end and the second end to a distance equal to or less than the groove spacing; and contacting the second end of the flexible body with the second groove of the metal decking. The body supports the load support assembly between the first groove and the second groove, and such that the load support assembly is movable relative to the flexible body.

  • Publication number: 20230160201
Abstract: A one-piece insulation mounting bracket is disclosed. The mounting bracket readily supports the insulation (e.g., curtain wall insulation) without requiring locking washers to secure the insulation to the mounting bracket. As a result, the insulation can be mounted more quickly than with conventional mounting systems.

  • Patent number: 11598092
Abstract: A hanger for suspending a load from a metal decking is described. A first hanger includes a body having ends that may be placed between opposing metal decking grooves and a separate assembly placed through an aperture in the body and adapted to support a load. The hanger thus permits the load to move side-to-side in the hanger, thus lessening the impact of seismic events on the hanger. A second hanger attaches two bodies, each having ends that may be placed between opposing metal decking grooves and a separate assembly placed through an aperture in the body used to attach the bodies to a strut channel. An additional assembly attached to strut channel is adapted to support a load. A hanger and method are also presented for preventing damage to concrete-filled metal decking hangers resulting from a seismic event.

  • Patent number: 11105444
Abstract: A hanger assembly and method of hanging conduits in buildings is described which protects the structure of the building from damage during a seismic event. The hanger assembly includes a frangible element which is calibrated to break when subjected to some higher than normal tensile load resulting from rapid acceleration of the conduit. Thus, for example, in the event of an earthquake, the hanger will fail before damage is done to the concrete to which the anchor is attached.

  • Patent number: 10718112
Abstract: A hanger and method of attaching a hanger to a deck is described. The method includes attaching the hanger parallel to the ground by attaching them to opposing surfaces of a corrugation of the deck. Certain methods include expanding the length of the hanger to place it in compression. Other methods include flexing the hanger to place it in compression. The method is particularly useful in retrofitting as it generates very little noise and vibration in a structure.

  • Patent number: 10281062
Abstract: An apparatus and method for the seismic stabilization of loads supported by hanger rods are presented. The apparatus includes a compression member that is placed in parallel to a hanger rod and which spans, or substantially spans, the distance from the load, which may be a conduit, and the supporting structure. This apparatus may be retrofit onto existing load-bearing hanger rods, or may be included at the time of installation of the conduit. Methods of installation are described that allow for providing additional structural integrity without disassembly of existing supports.

  • Publication number: 20180309686
Abstract: Example implementations relate to reducing a rate limit. An example implementation includes processing resource requests of a first priority level and resource requests of a second priority level. The rate of resource requests of the first priority level processed may be limited to a first rate limit and the rate of resource requests of the second priority level processed may be limited to a second rate limit. A resource request load that exceeds a maximum resource request threshold may be detected. The second rate limit of the second rate limiter may be reduced such that the resource request load no longer exceeds the maximum resource request threshold.

  • Publication number: 20170089058
Abstract: A clamp is disclosed along with method of using the clamp attach or more or more strut channels to another element, which may be a flange, such as the flange of an I-beam or another strut. The clamp has an opening to accept the strut channel between a pair of sides and against the bottom of the clamp, and a pair of clamp surfaces for contacting the other element. A threaded element is provided for forcing the strut channels against the other element. A method for using the clamp allows the clamp to be placed anywhere on the strut channel and allow an installer to tighten the clamp from either above or below the clamp.

  • Patent number: 7954086
Abstract: A method, and a corresponding mechanism, are used for creating a self-describing kernel module. The method includes the steps of expressing data describing a module in a modmeta file format and creating a C language source file. The C language source file is created by translating the expressed data into a series of C language data structures, wherein the series of C language data structures comprises the C language source file. The C language source file is then compiled and linked into the module itself, thus making the module contain its own descriptive data.

  • Patent number: 7634770
Abstract: A method, and a corresponding mechanism, are used for resolving interface dependencies in kernel modules during an operating system (O/S) update. The method includes determining the O/S version for which each module is designed, determining a version of the updated O/S, comparing the O/S version for which each module is designed to the version of the updated O/S, and removing from the system those modules that are not compatible with the updated O/S.
