  • Patent number: 4750687
Abstract: A fishing reel adapted to be mounted on a fishing pole and having a housing which rotatably mounts a clutch, a spool and a handle. The housing further mounts an adjustable disc brake which is operable to impart frictional resistance to the spool when it is rotated in a line dispensing direction. The fishing reel is operable to be rotatably urged in a line retrieval direction by the handle which moves a pair of pivotally mounted dogs into engagement with the spool. The handle is adapted immediately to disengage from the spool when it is rotatably urged in the line dispensing direction.

  • Patent number: 4523842
Abstract: An optic surface apparatus capable of handling aspheric surfaces uses dir measurement of the blur circle of the image created by the test surface. Direct measurement of the blur circle is obtained by providing a collimated light beam which includes the test surface in its optical path to an ultimate focal point. The focal point is occupied by an apertured screen with apertures of varying diameter. A light detector is placed behind the apertured screen to measure the intensity of light as a function of aperture size. The apertured screen and detector are mounted on a three-axis translator. For apertures less than the effective diameter of the blur circle, less than 100% light is received by the detector. For apertures equal to or greater than the effective diameter of the blur circle, 100% of the light reaches the light detector. A folding mirror is used in the optical path to permit the device to be physically compact.

  • Patent number: H539
Abstract: A bearing for a ball-shaped gimbal ring of a gimbal system has opposing arcuate tracks mounted individually to a gimbal ring and a base of the system. In a first embodiment, a ring track is segmentally opposed by a base track. Balls are disposed within the ring track and are kept there by a cage and retainer. A second embodiment includes a gimbal ring track that is fully opposed by the base track. Caged balls partially fill these tracks so that the balls are constantly opposed by the tracks in spite of differences in track and ball speeds.

  • Patent number: H1384
Abstract: A outer bail gimbal bearing having a closed loop filled with circulating ls is disclosed. The balls circulate about an axis parallel to the bail's axis of rotation. A shallow region within the loop allows the balls to emerge from the loop and engage a race made in the outer edge of the outer bail.
