  • Patent number: 10053601
Abstract: An optical adhesive product and a process for manufacturing an optical adhesive product, laminated film ensembles, and laminated lenses. The optical adhesive product includes a glyoxal water solution that is pH adjusted for use as an optical adhesive that demonstrates a wet peel force strength above about 6 Newtons. A water based polymer, such as PVOH, may be added to the adhesive system. According to the process, the glyoxal adhesive system is manufactured and utilized to laminate TAC-PVA-TAC films together to form a polar film ensemble. The polar film ensemble is laminated to an optical substrate and in the case of an ophthalmic lens, surfaced, coated and edged. The optical adhesive product avoids film separation in the polar TAC-PAV-TAC film ensemble during edging.

  • Patent number: 9969135
Abstract: A method using additive manufacturing technologies and processes to manufacture a three-dimensional ophthalmic lens with a high management level of the homogeneity during the construction of the ophthalmic lens, through a control of two technical characteristics of voxel: the ability to modify their viscosity, and the ability to inter-diffuse together to provide a final homogeneous element. These two technical characteristics are managed by the choice of component(s) used to manufacture each voxel and by the kind of physical and/or chemical treatment apply to each of them.

  • Publication number: 20150331259
Abstract: A laminated optical lens having an edging-optimized laminar configuration and method for manufacturing same. The laminated optical lens includes an optical base lens and a film layered structure including an external film furthest from said lens. An adhesive layered structure is placed between the film layered structure and the optical base lens so as to permanently retain the film layered structure on the surface of the optical base lens. The laminated lens is manufactured by laminating a film layered structure having an external film to an optical base element with an adhesive layered structure. The external film has a thickness of at least 100 ???, and preferably a thickness in the range of 150 microns to 300 microns inclusive.

  • Publication number: 20150143849
Abstract: A method of cutting a sheet material includes mounting the sheet material on a support and forming a porous barrier between the sheet material and the support by interposing at least one sheet of porous material between the sheet material and the support. The method includes focusing a laser beam at a target point relative to the sheet material on the support. A relative motion is effected between the focused laser beam and the sheet material such that the focused laser beam moves along a predetermined path on the sheet material to cut the sheet material along the predetermined path while the porous barrier shields the support from damage by the focused baser beam.

  • Patent number: 8920585
Abstract: A method and apparatus for elimination of lamination defects on progressive addition lenses. The lamination method uses a flexible bladder designed to apply pressure evenly across the lens surface. A spacer is positioned between a Hard Multi-Coat carrier and the flexible bladder. The spacer is located in a region of the carrier which is designated to deliver a coating to a section of the lens which is farthest from the carrier. The spacer asymmetrically increases the pressure applied to the carrier to eliminate lamination defects.
