  • Patent number: 12012101
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for controlling thermal conditioning of a battery system associated with brakes of a vehicle towing a trailer. In one embodiment, a method includes: determining, by a processor, that a temperature of the battery system is outside of a defined temperature range; determining, by the processor, a delta value between a brake request and a battery charge limit; generating, by the processor, a control signal to at least one of a heater and a compressor of the vehicle based on the delta value; generating, by the processor, a control signal to the battery system to initiate regeneration braking; and generating, by the processor, a braking reduction request to reduce braking by the trailer.

  • Patent number: 12005878
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for a vehicle towing a trailer. In an embodiments, a method includes: storing, in a data storage device, target deceleration values associated with the vehicle not towing the trailer; when the vehicle towing the trailer is determined to be braking, determining, by a processor, that a target deceleration value of the target deceleration values is not met, adjusting a brake sensitivity value associated with trailer braking based on the target deceleration value; and controlling deceleration of the towing vehicle based on the brake sensitivity value.

  • Publication number: 20200001914
Abstract: A method to evaluate a quality of road feedback to a driver in a steer-by-wire system includes setting a test bench by grounding a steering system steering wheel using a physical 6th order impedance constraint; preloading the steering system with data defining a steering wheel angle and a vehicle speed; applying tie rod load signals to the steering system and recording signals representing each of a tie rod load, a steering wheel torque and a steering wheel acceleration. In parallel: applying first a fast Fourier transform algorithm to the recorded signals to calculate each of a gain, a phase and a coherence response from the tie rod load to the steering wheel torque; applying second a fast Fourier transform algorithm to the recorded signals to calculate a power spectral density of the steering wheel torque versus frequency; and applying frequency weighting functions to the gain and power spectral density functions.

  • Publication number: 20190375424
Abstract: A system for monitoring at least one of a suspension component and a steering system in a vehicle includes a yaw rate module operable to determine a yaw rate of the vehicle, a yaw rate comparison module operable to compare the yaw rate with a reference yaw rate to determine a yaw rate error, and a vehicle control module operable to establish a vehicle capability rating based on the yaw rate error. The vehicle control module establishing one or more vehicle control parameters based on the vehicle capability rating.

  • Publication number: 20190308629
Abstract: An exemplary method for detecting a rough road includes the steps of providing a vehicle sensor, the vehicle sensor configured to measure a steering torque of a vehicle, receiving a steering torque data signal from the vehicle sensor, generating a road condition data signal from the steering torque data signal, evaluating the road condition data signal over a specified time interval, comparing the road condition data signal with one or more thresholds, and determining whether rough road conditions exist based on the comparison of the road condition data signal with the one or more thresholds over the specified time interval.
