  • Patent number: 8838926
Abstract: Unused storage space within a data storage is utilized to store data while effectively making it appear to the operating system, other programs, and the user that the space is still available or unused. The space used to store the hidden data remains available for use by the operating system, other programs and uses upon a request. File system requests are monitored such that the hidden storage area remains hidden from unauthorized processes as well as to restrict operations within the hidden storage area that are attempted by unauthorized processes.

  • Patent number: 8660921
Abstract: A method implemented by a first party to facilitate a sale by a second party of at least a subset of a set of items includes contractually committing, at a first time, to the second party to purchase title in the item subset, generating a displayable user interface accessible over a network to the second party, the user interface operable to allow the second party to input information describing the items, receiving the information over the network, and issuing via the network, at a second time of the first party's choosing and subsequent to the first time, a purchase order to the second party for the item subset. Alternatively, the purchase order may be issued by the second party at a second time of the second party's choosing and subsequent to the first time.

  • Publication number: 20100100587
Abstract: Data Protection Services (DPS) can protect stored device resources and can ensure that a device's normal usages are not degraded or impinged while in use. Additionally, DPS can protect a user of the device from any and all complexities associated with joining a network and utilizing the network's storage capability (e.g., via Remote Storage Technology). DPS also can insure that a device joining the network can be self configured and that the relationship and\or utilization of a device's resources can be handled without burdening a user with additional associated decisions and configurations. Essentially, the DPS technology resident on a device, can automatically connect the device to a network and allow the device to operate in a manner that a typical user would not be confused by.

  • Publication number: 20080270221
Abstract: A system includes an electronic device coupled over a network to first and second computing devices. The electronic device is configured to serve to the first computing device a first web page displayable on a display device. The displayed first web page includes a user interface operable to solicit from an individual of a plurality of individuals a current prediction of a plurality of current predictions of market prices of a product. The electronic device is further configured to determine an accuracy rating for each individual of the plurality based on a correlation between previous predictions provided by each said individual and actual market prices of the product. The electronic device is further configured to assign to the product a price estimate associated with a first predetermined time interval, the price estimate being a function of the accuracy ratings and current predictions. The electronic device is further configured to determine a current sale price based on the assigned price estimate.
