Abstract: A method of making reclosable bag material and bags made therefrom, wherein the bag making film providing bag walls is provided with an extruded plastic profile reclosable fastener strip across a portion of the longitudinal formation axis of the film and bag walls to be located at the open end of the bag and the strip having a base web for attachment to the film, and bonding the base web of the fastener strip to the film so that on one wall of the bag the base web is attached above and below the profile structure on the strip and on the other wall of the bag the base web is bonded to the film at a location only above the centerline of the profile structure on the strip.

Abstract: A tray for foodstuffs or the like having a continuous edge rim and a flexible cover placed over the top of the tray and sealed to the rim with an elongate continuous interlockable separate rib and groove profile on strips sealed to the surface of the cover wherein upstanding pull flanges above the rib and groove profiles may be pulled apart and the cover severed between the profiles for access to the contents so that the cover may be opened and closed.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming a tube and bag from a supply of thin thermoplastic film with the film being formed into tubular shape about a filling tube with the edges of the film brought together and joined solely by a zipper strip having reclosable pressure interlocking members thereon with the zipper strip preferably heat sealed to the film and the zipper strip having a web between the pressure interlocking members which provides a tamper-evident juncture between the edges of the film so that the web must be severed for access to the interior of a bag formed from the film, and individual bags formed from the continuous tube by filling the tube through the filling tube and cross-seaming and cutting individual bags from the continuous film tube.

Abstract: A bag with an openable mouth carries a reclosable extruded plastic zipper inside the mouth. The zipper has complementary profiles separably interlockable in a closed condition of the zipper. A gasket flange structure is separably sealingly grippingly interengageable by and between the profiles in the closed condition of the zipper, and may also serve as a tamper evident or tamper discouraging device.

Abstract: A leak resistant toothless plastic zipper is provided. The closed end of the zipper fused together and/or is secured in position by a clamp from which a gasket extends toward the open end of the zipper to engage with the zipper slider in sealing the gap that would otherwise form at the zipper closed end. A hook is provided to secure the tab of the zipper slider in sealing engagement with the gasket when the slider is at the closed end. The gasket may be disposed about the zipper elements or interposed between the elements. A bag incorporating such a zipper is also disclosed.

Abstract: An improved reclosable bag structure formed out of a plastic film or laminations thereof with front and back wall panels attached along their bottom and along their side edges and having fastener strips along the inner surfaces of the panels at the bag top with the strips secured thereto and one strip having a web element which is secured at its lower edge below the center line of the first strip and the other strip having a web element which is secured to the top of the strip with said web elements bonded along their faces to the inner surfaces of the panels at the top of the bag so that forces against the bag walls cause the strips to tilt and resist separation with said forces being applied in a shear mode rather than a peel mode.

Abstract: A method of and apparatus for packaging product masses in a form, fill and seal machine, wherein a continuous length of packaging film is joined in running relation by a continuous length of separately formed plastic reclosable fastener assembly having interlock profile strips spot sealed together at package length intervals. The corunning fastener strip assembly and the packaging film are oriented so that the spot seals of the strip are located in alignment with the spaces between the product masses on the film to assure that the fastener strip assembly will be cross sealed at the spot seals when the film is cross sealed between the product masses to provide individual packages. The orienting may be effected by an indexing arrangement including sensor response to index marks on the film and the fastener assembly.

Abstract: A series of bags having printable areas thereon with the bags secured at their base to a support strip and the support strip is mounted to a continuous support web such as computer paper by a strip of double surfaced adhesive tape supplied between the strip and computer paper with the computer paper thereafter folded to maintain the bags in registry for subsequent printing.

Abstract: An apparatus for opening dual bag sets having pressure interlocking zipper profiles along the top with pull flanges extending upwardly from the profiles and a bridging pull flange joining adjacent bag pairs, dual flange gripping means for the outer pull flanges of each of the bags riding along a rib on the bag, with the gripping means mounted on pivotal handles so that after the bags are moved forwardly, they can be pulled open for filling by manually pressing the handles together with the handles provided with a return spring.

Abstract: A tubular plastic container having moisture-proof capabilities and being reclosable with a continuous longitudinal seal along a back side, with cross-seals at the ends and with a front fold along the longitudinal front center formed by confronting faces being drawn together and folded over said front center with the confronting faces having internal continuous complementary interlocking rib and groove elements wherein the fold is severable for access to the rib and groove elements.

Abstract: A system for seriatim filling and separating zipper-equipped bags supplied in a chain has a filling station in which each bag mouth is spread open to permit top filling, a closing station in which the zipper profiles of each filled bag are interlocked, and a separation station in which the filled bag is separated from the chain. A pincer action grasps each filled bag, draws the filled bag through the closing and separation stations, and releases the separated and filled bag for collection. The operation of the pincer serves to bring about indexing of the bags in the chain through the bag filling system. The result is an economical and reliable zipper equipped bag filling method and apparatus.

Abstract: Gusseted bags are provided with extruded reclosable plastic profile strips along free upper end portions of face walls flanking a bag mouth, the fastener strips being free to separate throughout their lengths when opening the bag mouth to the full extent permitted by opposite side expanding gussets of the bag so that free access into the bag such as for inserting or removing contents such a tray loaded with products such as cookies, or the like, or for pouring contents therefrom selectively between either of the separated ends of the upper end portions of the face walls and the corresponding ends of the fastener strips is permitted. The fastener strips may have interlockable wraparound extensions. A method of making the bags is disclosed.

Abstract: Bags with reclosable zippers along their mouth ends and having pull flanges extending above the zippers, have attending upwardly from said pull flanges separably attached tamper evident extensions which are adhesively fixed to one another so that it is necessary to separate the tamper evident extensions from the pull flanges along lines of weakening when it is desired to gain access into the bag through the reclosable zipper. A method of and an apparatus for making the bags in linked chains and a method of and apparatus for filling the linked bags and then completing the filled bags are disclosed.

Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for making bag material having a bag wall sheet or film folded to provide a closed folded top for each bag, a zipper strip having a web being nested within the bag top fold and having the margins of the web carrying recloseable zipper profiles, and at least one of the margins remaining unattached relative to the bag wall.

Abstract: A container dispenser assembly containing stacks of flat bags with their tops adjacent and releasably interconnected and held in a rectangular cardboard container having a central tear strip extending over three walls with the tear strip removable and the separated sections of the container foldable about a fourth wall. In one form a thread is anchored within the container to be drawn between the tops of the bags and separate them. When the container is folded open, the bags may be withdrawn one by one from the two halves of the container.

Abstract: A bag has a reclosable zipper between wall panels and extending between side edges at the top end of the bag, the zipper comprising a continuous length of extruded profile plastic strip folded upon itself for zipper closing interengagement of its profile parts, the profile strip portions being spot welded together at the fold in the strip which may be at one of the side edges of the bag, such as a fold in the material which provides the walls of the bags. The strip may be notched out to facilitate folding. By differential mass, or differential spacing, or tilted biasing of profile parts of the zipper strip, and provision of a lateral flange of substantial width on the strip not only is interlocking of the profile parts facilitated, but an expedient is provided for restraining opening of the zipper by internal bag pressures, while permitting relatively easy opening of the bag from the outside, i.e. the top or mouth end of the bag.

Abstract: A method and structure for a non-reopening extruded plastic profile fastener wherein complementary rib and groove type profiles are constructed and arranged to be pressed into interlocking relationship, and provided with restraining means against permanent interlocking so that the fastener can be handled as an assembly with the profiles aligned for interlocking but not interlocked until the means are overridden and the profiles pressed into interlocked relation with one form of the overridable means being a frangible diaphragm across the groove to prevent movement of the rib and in another form a projecting strut which is yieldable with the application of a predetermined force or which is removable to permit the profiles to be moved to fully interlocked position.

Abstract: A bag closing separable fastener has a combination profile stabilizing and guiding and differential opening force enhancing post flange projecting from a base area along the outer side of a male profile and engagable with a base area alongside a complementary female profile. The post flange serves not only for stabilizing the male profile fastener strip, but also as a device for enhancing a hard-to-open from the inside and easy to open from the outside function of the fastener in respect to a bag with which associated. The male and female profile base areas and the post flange have substantially the same rigidity.
