Patent number: 11395574Abstract: A dishwasher for treating dishes according to an automatic cycle of operation can include a tub at least partially defining a treating chamber receiving dishes for treatment and a spray system providing treating liquid to the treating chamber. A dish rack is located in the tub and has a bottom wall and at least a side wall extending upwardly from the bottom wall. A depending portion extends downwardly from the bottom wall and is oriented at an angle to the bottom wall to define an incline angle. At least one spray tube is carried by the dish rack.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 2020Date of Patent: July 26, 2022Assignee: Whirlpool CorporationInventors: Steven B. Balinski, David Jason Brightbill, Frederick Thomas Roderick, Joseph T. Ferencevich, Ryan Kevin Roth, William J. Snell, Sujit S. Naik, Mark S. Feddema

Patent number: 10136791Abstract: A dishwasher includes a filtration system that can be configured in a chopping or filtration only arrangement. A check valve cover attached to an accumulator is inserted into a main intake of a sump and divides the main intake into a fluid recirculation chamber in communication with a recirculation intake port, and a separate fluid draining chamber in communication with a drain port. When a drain pump is actuated, fluid is pulled from the accumulator through the drain port until pressure within the fluid draining chamber drops below the pressure of the sump and a check valve in the check valve cover is forced open, allowing fluid to be channeled out of the fluid recirculation chamber into the fluid draining chamber. Optionally, a fine filter system can replace the convertible filtration system, whereby the main intake is in fluid communication with both the recirculation intake port and the drain port.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2011Date of Patent: November 27, 2018Assignee: Whirlpool CorporationInventors: Steven B. Balinski, Mark S. Feddema
