  • Patent number: 6908017
Abstract: Disclosed are actuator over caps suitable for use with aerosol containers. The caps are provided with flip-down lids that can move from a first position that blocks the outlet to prevent product drool between uses, to a second position that does not block dispensing. A push button is linked by a living hinge to a top wall of the cap. Downward pressure on the button can drive the lid away from its blocking position to facilitate opening the outlet of the cap.

Date of Patent: June 21, 2005
    Assignee: S. C. Johnson & Son, Inc.

  • Patent number: 6820823
Abstract: A nozzle insert, and/or an actuator nozzle structure, for use in dispensing a material to be dispensed from an aerosol can. The nozzle insert or actuator nozzle structure divide the spray of dispensed material into two independent, simultaneously emitted aerosol streams, which may have different attributes and may be emitted in different directions. One stream may be an upwardly directed fogger stream and the other stream may be a forwardly directed, aimable stream. This permits a user to direct, for example, an insecticide at a particular target, while simultaneously more generally fogging an area of interest.

  • Patent number: 6796082
Abstract: A bait station for offering a bait to a target insect comprising an open top base, a cap enclosing the open top base and a spike extending downwardly from the base. The base includes a floor, an outer wall that extends upwardly from the floor to an outer rim, and an inner wall that extends upwardly from the floor to an inner rim. The inner wall is spaced inwardly from the outer wall and defines a central bait well for containing insect bait. The base further includes an insect climbable tapered wall extending downwardly and outwardly from the inner wall that cooperates with the outer wall to define a moat that surrounds the bait well, and at least one doorway formed in the outer wall of a size sufficient to permit a target insect ingress to an egress from the bait well.

  • Patent number: 6718732
Abstract: A capping device and method for installing overcaps onto a plurality of aerosol cans moving on a manufacturing line is disclosed. The capping device has a pressure plate with a cap contact surface on one side and a bearing surface on an opposite side. The contact surface is oriented to face overcaps that are rested on a plurality of aerosol cans moving past the pressure plate on the manufacturing line. The contact surface is rotated about an axis so that an installation segment of the contact surface moves in concert with the plurality of aerosol cans. A pressure wheel has a rotatable circumferential surface arranged to bear against a part of the pressure plate to further bear the installation segment into contact with the overcaps of the plurality of aerosol cans. As the cans move past the pressure wheel and plate, the overcaps are installed on the aerosol cans by force applied via the installation segment of the contact surface that is moving along with the cans.

  • Patent number: 6663838
Abstract: A heated volatile dispenser and a volatile carrier for use therewith are disclosed. The volatile dispenser has a closed heating chamber having ceiling and exit vents. A fuel burner is contained within the heating chamber, and a carrier holder is positioned over the fuel burner. The carrier holder holds a volatile carrier in a location above the fuel burner such that hot gases from the fuel burner pass the carrier holder and directly heat a volatile carrier held thereby. The volatile carrier may be held in an edge-on orientation with respect to the flow of hot gases, or transversely with respect to them. The volatile carrier has an inward end that has a cross-sectional profile made to be complementary to that of an insert slot through which the volatile carrier must be inserted for use. An alternative embodiment is shown that uses a candle as a fuel burner.

  • Patent number: 6505356
Abstract: A liquid dispenser comprises a housing and a hook for suspending the housing from the rim of a lavatory bowl. A user inserts a sealed inverted reservoir bottle into the housing, which breaks the seal. A plate located in the housing conveys liquid from the bottle to a position within the stream of flushing water. The plate can be adjusted to accommodate different lavatories. To allow venting of the bottle, small vent holes are formed in the plate. The plate may have a number of raised holes or elongate slots. A vent system for the bottle is also provided.
