Patent number: 7506847Abstract: A hexapod machine is disclosed in which six adjustable length struts couple to a controllably moveable platform at three triangularly spaced locations at each of which a pair of struts couple together and to the platform at a bifurcated universal joint. The struts extend away from the platform and through machine nodes defined at triangularly spaced-apart locations in a machine sub-frame, and at each such node a strut extending from one platform location and the next adjacent strut from the next adjacent platform location come together and cross each other in respective hemispheres of a bifurcated sphere journalled for multidirectional pivotal movement in a socket in the sub-frame. The hemispheres each contain a motor which is frictionally engaged with the respective strut so as to enable it to be driven through the hemisphere to adjust its effective length. By control of the motors, the platform position and orientation can be adjusted in space.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2001Date of Patent: March 24, 2009Assignee: MakeX LimitedInventor: Ralph-Peter Steven Bailey

Publication number: 20080073076Abstract: An apparatus includes a body shaped to deform a wellbore tool in a predetermined manner. A vibration device applies a vibration to the body to reduce a frictional force caused when the body deforms the wellbore tool. In one arrangement, the vibration devices imparts a resonant wave motion to a swaging apparatus that is being pushed through a passage of a wellbore tubular. A swaging body vibrates at a resonant frequency along the long axis of the wellbore tubular and/or normal to long axis of the wellbore tubular. The relative motion between the swaging body and the tubular member reduces the force required to expand the wellbore tubular. Optionally, a controller operatively connected to the vibration device adjusts the operation of the vibration device in response to the sensor measurements of the vibrations in the swage body.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 27, 2007Publication date: March 27, 2008Applicant: BAKER HUGHES INCORPORATEDInventors: Edward O'Malley, Steven Bailey

Publication number: 20060041555Abstract: The present invention describes a method of restricting user access to parcels of data in a database. Each user of the database may be given a specified security level depending on their needs for their job. Further, each parcel of data in the database may be assigned a particular security threshold that determines its ability to be accessed by users. Both the security threshold of parcels of data, and security levels of users can be easily changed by a user with administrator status. Further an administrator is able to allow a user to access a particular parcel of data whose security threshold is greater than the users security level, by means of an override. The present invention is easily adaptable to help restrict search results of a search of a database, so that each user could receive different results, based on their security level and overrides, from the same initial search.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 31, 2001Publication date: February 23, 2006Inventors: Stephen Blessin, Steven Bailey, Gary Lewis, James Pittenger
