  • Publication number: 20250097106
Abstract: A method, computer system, and computer program product are provided for mitigating carbon emissions. Data is obtained indicating an overall amount of power consumption for a plurality of nodes in a service provider network, wherein each node of the plurality of nodes is located in a different geographical location, and wherein the service provider network provides service to a plurality of service provider network users. A fraction of network traffic is determined that is handled by the plurality of nodes in the service provider network for serving a particular service provider network user. A service provider network user power consumption is determined for the particular service provider network user based on the fraction of network traffic and the overall amount of power consumption. An amount of emissions is determined resulting from generating electrical power to support the service provider network user power consumption for the particular service provider network user.

  • Publication number: 20220055131
Abstract: This invention, a thread chase with a lead that acts as a smooth bore guide into a threaded hole is suitable where space is confined, and the male thread chase must be exactly aligned with the female threads, “sight unseen”, or damage to female threads may result by applying force to a misaligned thread chase, particularly where the female threads are of softer metals. The lead smooth bore also prevents shavings and other debris resulting from the cleaning from the chase, from falling into the hole that is being cleaned. A recessed tapered area between the threaded portion of this case and the lead smooth bore guide collects the shavings or cleaning residue so that when the tool is withdrawn from the hole, the shavings and cleaning residual will collect in that area and not fall into the threaded hole being cleaned.

  • Publication number: 20080094703
Abstract: Now, according to the present invention, dichroic filters are provided that incorporate a flexible polymer film substrate, such as poly(ethylene naphthalate), onto which a dielectric and/or reflective metal stack has been formed. Filters of the present invention are durable, flexible, and lightweight, and can be advantageously used in many specialty lighting applications.

  • Publication number: 20060196792
Abstract: A wireless communication device such as a cell phone is rendered temporarily inoperable by enclosing the device in a container such as a heat sealable bag (1) which has been metallized so that when the device (2) is sealed in the container (1) it is surrounded by a metal layer (9) which blocks signals to and from the device (3) to thereby render it inoperable. The device is sealed within the container (1) by a seal such as a heat seal which will reveal any attempt to remove the device from the container.

  • Publication number: 20060005483
Abstract: The present invention is in the field of thermoplastic films used to improve performance of windows, glazings, and other devices, and, more specifically, the present invention is in the field of films that are edge cauterized, methods of edge cauterizing such films, and windows, polymeric interlayers, glazings, and other devices comprising such films.

  • Publication number: 20060003158
Abstract: Composite film structures exhibit a predetermined finished color tone comprised of a transparent film layer which exhibits a color deficiency as compared to the finished color tone, and a pigment which is visually associated with, and satisfies the color deficiency of, the film layer. Most preferably, the pigment is provided as a homogenous dispersion in a transparent color-matching layer positioned adjacent to the film layer. Thus, when the film and color-matching layers are viewed collectively as a unit, the perceived color tone will be that of the finished predetermined color tone. That is, the color-matching layer provides visually an additive effect on the perceived color of the composite film structure.

  • Publication number: 20050079340
Abstract: A transaction card includes an optically active film composite comprising a PET polymeric film substrate covered with a hard coat layer of resin having a thickness of less than 6 microns, and a pencil hardness of at least 2H, the hard coat including a polymeric resin binder with nanoparticles of Lanthanum hexaboride absorbing light having a wavelength in the range of 700-1100 nm. The composite preferably has a VLT of about 50% and a transmission in the near IR wavelength of less than 10%.
