Abstract: An apparatus for injection molding includes at least one mold part having at least one surface. The mold part has at least one shaped portion. At least one substantially closed cavity region is disposed within the at least one surface. The one cavity region is designed for molding at least part of an interstitial mass. The apparatus further includes at least one gate disposed on the at least one surface for providing fluid communication to the at least one cavity region and at least one flow restrictor positioned on the mold part for initially directing flow of the interstitial mass to the at least one shaped portion. In one embodiment, flow restrictors initially direct the interstitial mass to an upper portion of the shaped portion.
