  • Publication number: 20240126219
Abstract: An electronic device, such as a watch, has a variable friction mechanism for providing variable frictional feedback as an input mechanism, such as a crown, is rotated. The variable frictional feedback may correspond to operational states, events, or other conditions at the electronic watch. The variable frictional feedback may be provided by changing a frictional force between the crown and the variable friction mechanism. The variable friction mechanism may include a friction element adapted to contact a shaft of the crown and an actuator adapted to change a frictional force between the friction element and the shaft.

  • Publication number: 20090023804
Abstract: To maximize and maintain the antioxidant or pro-oxidant state for foods, beverages, personal care products, cosmetics, nutritional supplements, reagents, analytical standards, medical device formulations, pharmaceutical preparations or drags, the present invention discloses methods and devices to control redox equilibrium of such preparations throughout the processing steps and storage prior to, or at, the time of administration or use. The preparations (solid or liquid form) can then be stored in a redox-controlled container, package or applicator as described in the specification. Foods, beverages, personal care products, cosmetics, nutritional supplements, reagents, analytical standards, medical device formulations, pharmaceutical preparations and drugs stored in reactive oxidation states can be activated and stabilized by electrical voltages applied with a small battery and electrodes designed into the applicator, container or package.

  • Patent number: 6461873
Abstract: The caffeine detector uses a paper chromatographic technique to measure the concentration of caffeine in a beverage. The device includes a well or other receptacle for containing a predetermined test volume of the beverage. A paper strip is suspended so that one end of the strip dips into the well. The strip is divided into two zones, the first zone being coated with at least one molecular imprint polymer (MIP) which absorbs substances which may interfere with quantification of caffeine. The second zone is coated with an MIP which selectively absorbs caffeine and chromogenic reagents which provide calorimetric visualization of the migration of caffeine through the second zone. The second zone bears indicia calibrating the paper strip so that the concentration of caffeine in the beverage may be determined by the height or distance which the caffeine migrates up the paper strip.
