  • Publication number: 20080137260
Abstract: An apparatus, according to various aspects of the present invention, produces contractions in skeletal muscles of a target to impede locomotion by the target. The apparatus is used with a provided deployment unit that deploys an electrode away from the apparatus. The electrode conducts a current through the target. The apparatus includes a terminal; a producing sub-system for producing an electric arc to warn the target without conducting a current through the target; a conducting sub-system for conducting the current in series through the terminal and through the target; an initiating sub-system for initiating deployment of the electrode; and an operator interface. The operator interface facilitates, prior to deployment of the electrode, repeated operation of any one or both of the producing sub-system and the conducting sub-system.

  • Publication number: 20070188972
Abstract: A method is performed by a deployment unit for an electronic weapon. The method includes describing the apparatus to a launch device of the weapon; and propelling the electrode in response to the launch device. The electrode conducts a current through a provided target to impede locomotion by the target.

  • Publication number: 20070094454
Abstract: An integrated circuit digital processor is coupled to either a main program memory or a secondary program memory, wherein the secondary program memory may be low power, high reliability, non-volatile and/or fast memory that may store a limited number of critical program instructions and data for execution by the digital processor. A program memory switch may couple the digital processor to either the main program memory or the secondary program memory. This is particularly advantageous in that the secondary program memory may have attributes not economically feasible with the main program memory. A program memory controller may handle the selection of which of these memories that the digital processor is using to obtain its program instructions, and necessary control signals for switching and operation thereof.

  • Publication number: 20070081292
Abstract: An apparatus for interfering whith locomotion by a target includes a processing circuit, a signal generator, and a transmitter. The processing circuit determines an identification of the apparatus and an identification of a user of the appararatus. The signal generator is controlled by the processing circuit. The signal generator provides a current for passing through the target to produce eskeletal muscle contractions in the target that interfere with locomotion by the target. The transmitter is coupled to the processing circuit. The transmitter transmits a description of a use of the apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20070081293
Abstract: Another apparatous, according to various aspects of the present invention, produces contraction in skeltal muscles of a target to impede locomotion by the target. The apparatus is used with a provided deployment unit that deploys an electrode away from the apparatus. The electrode conducts a current through the target. The apparatus includes a terminal; producing sub-system for producing an electric arc to warn the target without conducting a current through the target; conducting sub-system for conducting the current in series through the terminal and through the target; initiating sub-system for inititaing deployment of the electrode; and an operator interface. The operator interface further facilitates, prior to deployment of the electrode, repeated operation of any one or both of the producing sub-system and the conducting sub-system.

  • Publication number: 20070075261
Abstract: A driver provides a current through a load circuit that includes an ionizable path. The driver includes an energy sourcing circuit, an ionization detector, a controller, and a pulse generator. The controller determines, in response to the detector and be trial and error a respective quantity of energy for each pulse of a plurality of pulses to be generated. For each pulse of the plurality, the pulse generator receives the respective quantity of energy from the energy sourcing circuit, provides in response to the quantity of energy a respective voltage to ionize the ionization path, and provides the current through the load circuit.

  • Publication number: 20070070574
Abstract: An apparatus produces contractions in skeletal muscles of a target to impede locomotion by the target. The apparatus is used with a provided deployment unit that deploys an electrode away from the apparatus. The electrode conducts a current through the target. The apparatus includes a bus; a plurality of ports, and a controller. Each port couples a module to the bus. The controller is coupled to the bus to communicate with each module to determine a description of each module.
