  • Patent number: 6314701
Abstract: An improved construction panel is diclosed comprising a foam core with thin metal skins attached to top and bottom surfaces of the foam core having am improved snap together joint. The joint includes a sealant pocket and stabilizing members. The sealant pocket further includes a bead or a protrusion to positively define a vertical sealant space between adjacent and connected construction panels.

  • Patent number: 5349796
Abstract: A panel which has a central insulating core, usually expanded polystyrene or equivalent material, which core is flanked on one side by a skin laminated to the core, and on the other side by a composite skin such as oriented strand board (OSB) or plywood such as five eighth plywood sheets is disclosed. The oriented strand board is more desirable because of its structure and more importantly its availability in lengths up to forty feet. The joint at the lateral edges is comparable to that of U.S. patent application Ser. No. 513,922 filed Apr. 24, 1990. On one side where there is a protrusion and an interlock with a groove. An extension and recess are provided but the same have a different configuration inasmuch as one has the board substrate is its side portion. In addition, a joiner is provided so that with an overlapping portion of the composite skin on the adjacent laterally disposed panel they will overlap at the middle of the joiner.

  • Patent number: 5216861
Abstract: A joint, in one embodiment, between adjacent panels of sheet encased insulating material in which one lateral edge has an essentially frustoconical nose, and the other edge has a frustoconical pocket is disclosed. In an alternative embodiment, essentially frustoconical noses are at both lateral edges and the two adjacent panels are joined by means of an I beam embodying the interlock of the present invention. In both embodiments, the interlocking relationship is a function of the lateral edges of the cladding sheet, or in the flange of an I beam, in which one edge has a sealant pocket, and the opposite edge has a locking sealant press which engages the sealant pocket and thereby interlocks the panels as well as presses the sealant in the sealant pocket to compress and secure the same and to form a sealant gasket between the lateral edges of the sealant pocket and the locking sealant press.

  • Patent number: 5086599
Abstract: A joint, in one embodiment between adjacent panels of sheet encased insulating material in which one lateral edge has an essentially frustoconical nose, and the other edge has a frustoconical pocket as disclosed. In an alternative embodiment, essentially frustoconical noses are at both lateral edges and the two adjacent panels are joined by means of an I-beam embodying the interlock of the present invention. In both embodiments, the interlocking relationship is a function of the lateral edges of the cladding sheet, or the flange of an I-beam, in which one edge has a sealant pocket, and the opposite edge has a locking sealant press with a reversely bent stabilizer.

  • Patent number: 4769963
Abstract: A building panel providing for structural and insulating integrity between adjacent modular construction panels is formed from two sheets of thin metal bonded to a styrofoam core. One longitudinal edge of the panel has a first pair of shaped ramp and groove interlock elements with a shaped wedge of core projecting outwardly between these first pair of elements. A second longitudinal opposite edge of the panel has a second pair of U-shaped interlock elements with a shaped cup-like edge of the core conforming to the wedge on the opposite side and overlapped by the second pair of U-shaped interlock elements. Adjacent panels are snapped together by moving the U-shaped interlock elements over the ramp and into the groove of the first pair of interlock elements to form a tight fit and causing the edges of the core to have a tight edge to edge insulating seal.
