  • Publication number: 20100132264
Abstract: An example of an inflatable seal for a door includes a bi-directional airflow pattern of frost-inhibiting heated air. The bi-directional flow pattern enables the seal's discharge opening and supply air blower to both be located well above the floor and preferably above the doorway. If the discharge opening is near the suction inlet of the blower, such an arrangement makes it possible to recover previously heated air by returning some of the warm air back to the blower. In some examples, the seal includes a supply air conduit and a return air conduit with one disposed within the other. The internal conduit may include a relatively stiff elbow to prevent that conduit from becoming kinked near an upper corner of the door.

  • Publication number: 20100101068
Abstract: A method for enabling removal and replacement of a failed actuator module of a brake assembly that includes multiple actuators (27) for compressing a brake disk stack (12), wherein the failed actuator has failed in an extended position applying compressive force to the brake disk stack and at least one of the other actuators remains operative. The method comprises the steps of causing one or more of the operative actuators to apply to the brake disk stack a compressive force greater than the compressive force exerted by the failed actuator whereby the reactionary force acting on the failed actuator will be reduced, and removing the failed actuator after the reactionary load on the failed actuator has been reduced.

  • Publication number: 20070021196
Abstract: Systems and methods embed watermark data into downloadable software components. The watermarks may be used to indicate who created or who owns the software components. In addition, a watermark may be inserted to indicate certain transactions have taken place with respect to the software component. For example, a transactional watermark may be embedded when a software component is downloaded from one system to another. The downloadable software components may include banner content, advertising content, denomination data, pay table, language data, video content, audio content, episodic game data, wagering game software, operating system software, device driver software and device firmware.

  • Publication number: 20060240917
Abstract: A system and a method is provided for improving a baseball player's batting swing. Preferably, the system can be utilized to teach a player to swing with power and with a slight upstroke to increase the chances of getting a powerful line drive hit. The system includes a post upwardly extending from a support base. Preferably, the post is adjustable to increase or decreased in height to match the size of the player utilizing the system. A channel is attached at upper portion of the post and includes a means for providing resistance, such as bristles, that protrude generally upwardly from the channel base. A second similar channel with a resistance means is mounted above and facing the first channel such that there is a gap between the two resistance means.

  • Patent number: 7067829
Abstract: In one aspect, the present invention provides a method of managing fluctuations in power supplied to a semiconductor processing apparatus that includes monitoring the power supplied to the apparatus to detect the occurrence of a power fluctuation event during a semiconductor processing session. Upon detection of a power fluctuation event, the semiconductor processing can be interrupted. After the end of the power fluctuation event, at least one operational parameter of the apparatus, e.g., vacuum level in an evacuated processing chamber, can be measured, and the semiconductor processing can be resumed when the measured operational parameter is within an acceptable range. The measured operational parameter can preferably include a parameter that recovers more slowly than others when adversely affected by a power fluctuation event.

  • Publication number: 20050255978
Abstract: A filter making apparatus includes a positioning device having a passageway therethrough, with the passageway guiding a continuous flavor element such as a continuous strand of textile material from an inlet of the passageway to an outlet of the passageway. A liquid flavorant is introduced into the passageway at a desired flow rate and the strand of material carries the supplied liquid flavorant out of the positioning device at a rate substantially equal to the desired flow rate. A portion of the passageway can form a bath of the liquid flavorant supplied to the passageway through a separate inlet at approximately atmospheric pressure. A portion of the positioning device guides the continuous strand of material through the bath, or guides the strand to pass along the bottom of the passageway, and the saturated or partially saturated strand of material then exits from an outlet of the passageway to a point in the path of filter tow material that is being converged to form a filter rod.

  • Publication number: 20050187037
Abstract: A sports training target system is disclosed. The system includes a target anchor having a support post that includes a slight angle in the forward direction. The system includes a target section having at least one target arm which is rotatably secured to the anchor support post. When a ball is thrown by a pitcher and it strikes the target arm, the target section will partially rotate around the anchor support post. The angle in the support post, together with gravity, will force the taret section back to its original position facing the user.

  • Publication number: 20050059493
Abstract: A system, computer program product and method for playing casino games in a remote location. Input from a user of a terminal selecting a casino game to be played on the terminal may be received. The selected casino game may then be displayed on the terminal. Input from the user of the terminal selecting a play in the displayed casino game may be further received. A table may be searched to determine an action the user of the terminal selected to be performed in the casino game using the input from the user. The action to be performed in the casino game may then be transmitted to a processor of a gaming device. A next screen to be displayed to the user after the user's selected action is performed may be received from the gaming device. This next screen may be transmitted to the terminal to be displayed to the user.

  • Publication number: 20050060097
Abstract: In a seismic survey, idealized subsurface illumination is generated using idealized survey data. Then, the following three steps are performed during each of a sequence of time intervals during the seismic survey. First, an incremental portion of actual survey data is collected, using data acquisition equipment at a data acquisition location. Second, the incremental portion of actual survey data is communicated from the data acquisition location to a data processing location. Third, an incremental portion of actual subsurface illumination is generated using the incremental portions of actual survey data, to incrementally generate actual subsurface illumination at the data processing location. It is determined if additional data acquisition is desirable by comparison of the idealized subsurface illumination and the actual subsurface illumination, in the data processing location.

  • Patent number: 6759757
Abstract: There is disclosed a caisson and a method of using same. The caisson is for creating electrical power from a tidal stream. The power may be used to create hydrogen for hydrogen fuel cells. The device includes a body having an inlet and an outlet to allow the passage of water there through. A compartment extends between the inlet and the outlet and provides at least one paddle wheel rotatably mounted within the compartment for contact with incoming water. The compartment may be pressurized to reduce the volume of water present in the compartment when the caisson is submerged in the stream. The paddle wheel is connected to suitable pumps and generators in order to harness the energy from the mechanical energy created by the paddle wheel.

  • Publication number: 20040044958
Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for scanning a paper document to create an electronic document that is displayed to allow one or more metadata tags to be inserted in the electronic document. Each metadata tag contains metadata that describes the contents of the document. Large volumes of documents can be archived so that a quick search of the documents may be accomplished by searching the metadata tags contained in the documents. The systems and methods described provide a fast and efficient way to enter metadata tags into documents as paper documents are converted to electronic documents. In at least one implementation, computational algorithms may be used to identify specific portions of a document for selective processing and storage.

  • Patent number: 6339996
Abstract: A compressed natural gas (CNG) transportation system designed to operate at or just below ambient temperatures, that is either ship-based, truck-mounted, or modular for container transportation. The system is an alternative to LNG, pipeline, or conventional CNG transportation systems, where the foregoing modes of transportation are not practical or feasible. The use of composite pressure vessels provides a critical advantage over conventional CNG concepts that use steel or steel lined pressure vessels. The rupture characteristics of composite pressure vessels exceed those of conventional steel or steel lined pressure vessels. The substantial weight reduction of pressure-equivalent composite pressure vessels overcomes the weight-related problems associated with steel or steel lined pressure vessel concepts. The corrosion resistance of composite pressure vessels allows for the transportation of raw CNG and or compressed natural gas liquids (CNGL) which are most often corrosive.
