It is powered by a battery, which has a short life counterbalanced by higher power, thus improving efficiency and effectiveness of the emergency portable telephone. The battery may be sealed in a container for prolonging the life of the battery during the period of time that the telephone is inactive. In an emergency situation, the container may be pierced, and the battery freed to perform its duty.
