  • Publication number: 20240075191
Abstract: The disclosed subject matter relates to extracorporeal blood processing or other processing of fluids. Volumetric fluid balance, a required element of many such processes, may be achieved with multiple pumps or other proportioning or balancing devices which are to some extent independent of each other. This need may arise in treatments that involve multiple fluids. Safe and secure mechanisms to ensure fluid balance in such systems are described.

  • Publication number: 20220158975
Abstract: Implementations include providing security services to workloads deployed across various types of network environments, such as public networks, private networks, hybrid networks, customer premise network environments, and the like, by redirecting traffic intended for the service device through a security environment of the first network. After application of the security features to the incoming traffic, the “clean” traffic may be transmitted to the service device instantiated on the separate network via a tunnel. Redirection of incoming traffic to the security-providing first network may include correlating a network address of the service device to a reserved network address of a block of reserved addresses and updating a Domain Name Server (DNS) or other address resolving system with the reserved address. The return transmission tunnel may be established between the security environment and the network address of the service device.

  • Publication number: 20210399951
Abstract: The application describes a network-access device with multiple different modems or other such network interfaces that enables a computing device to intelligently connect to multiple different networks. Thus, if one particular network connection goes down, is running slow or is otherwise not accessible to the computing device, the network-access device may connect to another network to which it has access.

  • Patent number: 10128951
Abstract: Optical fiber-based wireless systems and related components and methods support radio frequency (RF) communications with clients over optical fiber, including Radio-over-Fiber (RoF) communications. The systems may be provided as part of an indoor distributed antenna system (IDAS) to provide wireless communication services to clients inside a building or other facility. The communications can be distributed between a head end unit (HEU) that receives carrier signals from one or more service or carrier providers and converts the signals to RoF signals for distribution over optical fibers to end points, which may be remote antenna units (RAUs). A microprocessor-based control system or systems may also be employed. The control systems may include one or more microprocessors or microcontrollers in one or more of the components of the system that execute software instructions to control the various components and provide various features for the optical fiber-based distributed antenna systems.

  • Patent number: 10062826
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to thermoelectric devices useful for a range of thermoelectric applications (e.g., high temperature thermoelectric generation, fluid conditioning). Thermoelectric devices may include one or more heat exchangers (e.g., coolant heat exchanger(s)) and one or more thermoelectric layers adjacent to the heat exchanger(s). An enclosure may surround the thermoelectric layer(s) and heat exchanger(s), providing a barrier from outside fluid (e.g., hot fluid flow). The enclosure may conduct heat between the outside surroundings and the thermoelectric layer(s). The heat exchanger(s) may be spaced from and movable or slidable relative to the enclosure, which may accommodate for certain thermal expansion effects. The enclosure may include a conformable surface adapted to conform substantially to the shape of the thermoelectric layer(s) (e.g., when a vacuum is applied). One or more thermally conductive members (e.g., fins) may extend from the conformable enclosure.

  • Patent number: 9462307
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments include a method, apparatus, and computer program product for simplifying the process of creating a video-on-demand system. For example, in one embodiment, a method for creating a video-on-demand (VOD) system is disclosed that includes dynamically capturing segments of an adaptive bit rate (ABR) live stream of the program at time of broadcasting and storing the captured segments of the ABR live stream of the program as a VOD file. In some cases, a particular bit rate of the program can be selected for playback on a client device, based on the type of the client device.

  • Publication number: 20070284452
Abstract: A thermostat is provided that receives one or more inputs from at least one heating system of a climate control system, and initiates an appropriate action in response to the input. The thermostat can turn off a heat pump providing substandard heat and responsively turn on a fuel-fired auxiliary furnace. The thermostat may discontinue further operation of the auxiliary furnace upon receiving an operating error signal associated with the auxiliary furnace, and responsively turn on the heat pump to provide for continued heating. The thermostat may also discontinue operation of the fuel-fired furnace and turn on a circulating fan in response to an input signal indicating a furnace high-temperature or a carbon monoxide presence.

  • Publication number: 20070121651
Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention provide solutions for converting content, such as audio files and/or streams, video files and/or streams, other data files and/or the like. In an aspect, embodiments of the invention thus provide novel solutions to facilitate the provision of media services to one or more subscribers. In a set of embodiments, for example, media conversion services might be performed according to a subscriber's profile, such that the conversion services can be provided, in some cases, on the fly while providing the media to the subscriber, allowing the subscriber to obtain content in the necessary format without having to specify in each instance the formats in which various content should be provided.

  • Publication number: 20070124779
Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention provide novel solutions for providing content (including without limitation audio content and video content) to subscribers. In an aspect of some embodiments, content can be provided in an on-demand manner, allowing subscribers to select what content to receive and/or when to receive such content. In another aspect, embodiments can provide real-time content in such an on-demand environment, allowing a user to experience both the convenience of on-demand content and the timeliness of real-time content, perhaps integrated into a single stream of content. Merely by way of example, some embodiments provide personal broadcast channels, which can allow a user to define an ordered set of on-demand and/or real-time content to be delivered. Other embodiments provide automatic conversion services and/or networked content storage.
