Abstract: A system and methodology to facilitate communication between non-compatible communication devices by utilization of a dynamic media proxy is provided. Information associated with an endpoint, such as, media capabilities, identity and system resource information is collected. Media proxy'ing is performed as part of capability negotiation. A dynamic media proxy is employed based on an analysis of the collected information. An analysis component can identify an endpoint that does not adhere to specific rules of transmission and can dynamically connect such an endpoint to a VTG (virtual talk group) via a proxy to prevent the endpoint from transmitting media into an active VTG that already has multiple talkers streaming media. Additionally, the location where media processing can occur can be dynamically determined based on the available system resources.

Abstract: In one embodiment, an apparatus can include: a status detector configured to determine a status associated with an input stream; a parameter controller configured to adjust a parameter in response to a change in the status; and a rendering controller configured to receive the input stream, and to provide a rendered stream in response to the input stream and the parameter.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method can include: receiving rules in an interoperability server, the rules being related to access control for an endpoint coupled to a variable source content stream via a multicast network; and sending to the endpoint using in-band controls of the variable source content stream via the multicast network: a description of content streams available for selection by the endpoint; a procedure for selecting an available content stream; and permission for accessing the selected content stream, the permission being based on the rules.

Abstract: In one embodiment, techniques for processing voice collisions are provided. A voice collision of two or more voice streams associated with two or more speakers is determined. The voice collision of the two or more voice streams is dynamically disambiguated. The two or more voice streams are then rendered such that the voice collision is disambiguated. The voice collision may be disambiguated using spatial relocation, buffering, etc.

Abstract: Providing virtual talk groups to an endpoint includes managing the virtual talk groups, where a virtual talk group comprises one or more members operable to participate in the virtual talk group. One or more overlapping members are identified, where an overlapping member is a member of more than one virtual talk group. Internal virtual talk groups are generated from the original virtual talk groups, where the internal virtual talk groups comprise at least a reduced number of overlapping members. One or more original virtual talk groups are provided to the endpoint using the internal virtual talk groups.

Abstract: A system including an implantable delivery device having a housing, a reservoir, fill and catheter access ports, and a denial device. The housing maintains the fill port in fluid communication with the reservoir. The catheter access port includes a septum between an inlet and a well. The denial device includes a pin, a biasing element, and a solenoid. The pin is arranged to be movable between a first position in which the pin blocks passage of a needle into the well and a second position, with the biasing element biasing the pin to the first position. The solenoid is operatively coupled to the pin and provides an energized and de-energized states; in the energized state, the solenoid moves the pin from the first position to the second position to permit access to the well. An external controller effectuating clinician control over operation of the denial device is also provided.

Abstract: A method for reserving resources in a conferencing system includes receiving a conference reservation request for a first conference comprising at least one invitee. The method also includes reserving for the at least one invitee a conference resource to allow the at least one invitee to participate in the first conference using the conference resource. The conference resource is usable by the at least one invitee to participate in one or more additional conferences occurring simultaneously with the first conference.

Abstract: A method for managing conference resources includes receiving from an endpoint of a user a call to join a multipoint conference between a plurality of participants. Each participant communicates on the multipoint conference through a respective endpoint. The method includes determining that an insufficient amount of resources exist to allow the user to communicate on the multipoint conference and determining participation instructions to enable the user to communicate on the multipoint conference. The method also includes communicating the participation instructions. Location information associated with the user and location information associated with at least one of the plurality of participants may be used to determine the participation instructions to enable the user to communicate on the multipoint conference.

Abstract: A communication system for providing multi-modal call management includes a communication manager, a notification database, and a personal assistant. The communication system can receive a call, collect caller identification information, generate a call notification, and send the call notification to one or more communication devices through one or more communication protocols. The communication system can also receive a response to the call notification and initiate an action regarding the call based on the call notification response. The communications system can perform all of these activities while maintaining the call in an offering state. The call management system allows a system user to manage an outstanding call using one or more of multiple communication devices, identified by the communication manager as being associated with the system user.

Abstract: A method for reserving conference resources includes communicating a conference notification to each of a plurality of conference invitees. The conference notification is associated with a multipoint conference. The method includes receiving, from each of a first number of the plurality of conference invitees, a response to the conference notification indicating that the invitee will participate on the multipoint conference. The first number of the plurality of invitees comprises participating invitees. The method includes automatically determining, based on the responses to the conference notifications, a sufficient amount of resources to allow the participating invitees to communicate on the multipoint conference.

Abstract: A method for reserving conference resources includes communicating a conference notification to each of a plurality of conference invitees. The conference notification is associated with a multipoint conference. The method includes receiving, from each of a first number of the plurality of conference invitees, a response to the conference notification indicating that the invitee will participate on the multipoint conference. The first number of the plurality of invitees comprises participating invitees. The method includes automatically determining, based on the responses to the conference notifications, a sufficient amount of resources to allow the participating invitees to communicate on the multipoint conference. The method also includes automatically reserving the determined sufficient amount of resources and hosting the multipoint conference between the participating invitees using the reserved resources.

Abstract: A method for scheduling conference resources is provided, that includes receiving a request for a conference reservation. The request may include the identities of a plurality of proposed participants, a proposed start time, and at least one fixed resource criterion. In accordance with a particular embodiment of the present invention, a projected location of at least one of the proposed participants is automatically calculated. The projected location may be a location at which the at least one of the proposed participants is expected to be at approximately the proposed start time. The method may also include automatically calculating a projected location of at least one invitee of the conference. In accordance with this embodiment, the projected location of the at least one invitee may be used to select an optimal one of a plurality of fixed resources, that match the at least one fixed resource criterion.
