    Abstract: A method an apparatus for forming a trim insert particularly suited for automotive purposes such as a door insert includes a first carrier which holds the substrate and a second carrier which holds a material larger than the substrate. A drive assembly is connected to the first and second carriers to position the first and second carriers. A positioner positions the substrate from the first carrier and together with the substrate of the material on the second carrier. An edge folder is used to fold the material around the substrate to contact an adhesive on the second side of the substrate. The second carrier may have a contoured mold to form a desired wrinkle pattern in the material prior to folding the material.
