  • Publication number: 20080156041
Abstract: The present invention provides improved cooling of a veil of glass fibers by using a combination of nozzle assemblies. The nozzle assemblies include air caps of differing configurations to control the penetration of the spray into the veil. One suitable spray configuration is a nozzle assembly having punch air cap that creates a narrow exit angle, high velocity flow of droplets to penetrate the veil to cool the fibers at the interior. Another suitable configuration is a nozzle assembly having a flat air cap that creates a wide exit angle, low velocity, dispersed spray pattern to cool the exterior of the veil. Preferably, the flat air cap creates a very fine particle size to increase the cooling efficiency of the spray. By using the cooling ring of the present invention, lower levels of binder to be applied to the fibers and environmental emissions from the plant may be reduced.

  • Patent number: 5284700
Abstract: Mineral fibers, and products (e.g., building insulation products) formed of mineral fibers are treated, and thus rendered fire-resistant, by placing a phosphate-containing compound onto or in close proximity to the mineral fibers. The phosphate-containing compound is at least one which forms a high-temperature protective coating or layer on the surfaces of the mineral fibers. A preferred product of the invention will include two mineral wool layers with a septum carrying the phosphate-containing compound interposed therebetween. Exemplary phosphate-containing compounds include monoammonium phosphate, diammonium phosphate, dicalcium phosphate, monocalcium phosphate, phosphoric acid, aluminum phosphate, tetrasodium pyrophosphate, tetrapotassium pyrophosphate, sodium hexametaphosphate, potassium tripolyphosphate, sodium tripolyphosphate, ammonium polyphosphate, monosodium dihydrogen phosphate, and mixtures thereof.

  • Patent number: 4637188
Abstract: The splicing means includes a push-on sheet metal splicing member for mounting on an upper flange portion of an I-beam and presenting a vertically oriented backing portion for a pair of clamping strips securable respectively to opposite sides of the backing portion by self-tapping screws.

  • Patent number: 4528790
Abstract: Insulation supporting tubes are suspended from auxiliary support beams extending transversely of and supported by more widely spaced main support beams. The insulation supporting tubes extend all the way across a bay between adjacent main support beams and are supported by two hangers at opposite ends and by a circular hook at midlength. For clamping at eave struts, a hanger assembly is mounted on each eave strut between each two adjacent insulation strips, the hanger assembly including two independently vertically adjustable axle tubes received respectively in adjacent bushings of two adjacent clamping tubes.
