Publication number: 20220080340Abstract: A filtration media with improved filtration, strength, tear resistance and air permeability in the form of a relatively thin and lightweight wet-laid fibrous web that has a wet Mullen ratio of 60% to 80% to ensure that the media is flexible enough to be formed into a fluted structure, and strong enough to retain the fluted structure when wound into a roll and to permit further processing without the media becoming too brittle. The filtration media comprises a blend of cellulose and synthetic fibers having a weight percent of 81 wt % to 87 wt % of a weight of the media and a resin binder having a weight of 13 wt % to 19 wt % (preferably about 16 wt %) of the weight of the media.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 22, 2021Publication date: March 17, 2022Applicants: AHLSTROM-MUNKSJÖ OYJ, DONALDSON COMPANY, INC.Inventors: KEVIN R. SCHOUWEILER, KENT WILLIAMSON, KRISTIN AMSDEN, STEVEN D. SCHMEICHEL

Patent number: 5803941Abstract: The invention is directed toward a filter element for mounting on an air filter system. The filter element has a central air flow aperture and a first slide or support construction. The slide or support construction has a central rim, which is positioned within the central air flow aperture and is oriented to support the filter element.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 1995Date of Patent: September 8, 1998Assignee: Donaldson Company, Inc.Inventors: James Leonard Berkhoel, Dolan D. Bartels, Michael S. Bergeson, Bruce A. Johnson, Steven D. Schmeichel

Patent number: 4632216Abstract: The present invention is directed to muffler apparatus and a method for making same. The apparatus includes inlet and outlet tubes with a plurality of baffles extending from the inlet and outlet tubes to a housing. The outlet tube has a constricted portion near its inlet end formed with creases and lobes and a flare at the end. Such constriction increases the housing to outlet tube area ratio of the muffler which results in advantageous attenuation characteristics. The process for making the muffler is simpler than known methods since the outlet tube is formed and baffles pressed onto it in a single step.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1984Date of Patent: December 30, 1986Assignee: Donaldson Company, Inc.Inventors: Wayne M. Wagner, Timothy A. Bethke, Steven D. Schmeichel

Patent number: 4580657Abstract: An integral formed fluted tube intended, for example, for use as a sound suppression device in mufflers, exhaust ejectors, etc. is disclosed. The tube is formed of a cylindrical portion with generally circular inlets and outlets and a constricted portion between those ends and within the constriction, a plurality of bypasses therethrough. The constriction may also include a frontal portion having a generally concave surface which rises to an apex and thereafter forms a plurality of convex rear portions toward the outlet end. Other embodiments are shown in the Figures. The device may be used integrally within a muffler to obtain a venturi effect for an exhaust ejector and sound suppressor.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 1983Date of Patent: April 8, 1986Assignee: Donaldson Company, Inc.Inventors: Steven D. Schmeichel, Wayne M. Wagner, John S. Wiese, Bruce B. Hoppenstedt, Joanne E. Kleinhenz, David L. Roberts

Patent number: 4558891Abstract: The specification discloses an improved clamp (20) for securing overlapping telescoped ends of adjacent tubes in an exhaust system, or the like, to form a substantially leakproof joint. The clamp (20) includes a circular band (26) and a bolt (32) having a curved end (34) secured thereto over a predetermined circumferential distance adjacent one end of the band, and a straight threaded end extending through an extension (40) secured adjacent to the opposite end of the band. A nut (44) is provided on the straight bolt end (38) for tightening against the extension (40) to draw the ends (28 and 30) of the band (26) together in near abutting relationship to engage the lap joint over a substantially continuous circumferential area in a second embodiment (60). The extension (62) can bridge the gap to serve as a guide for the other end of the band, or it can be an integral portion (72 and 74) of the band in a third embodiment (70).Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1983Date of Patent: December 17, 1985Assignee: Donaldson Company, Inc.Inventors: Wayne M. Wagner, Steven D. Schmeichel, Timothy A. Bethke
