  • Publication number: 20050136182
Abstract: An improved method for creating scented advertisement inserts from rectangular sheets for inclusion as inserts into mail pieces. The rectangular sheets have left, right, top and bottom edges. A first step is to apply a scented adhesion to a left strip along the left side of the sheets, and to a right strip along the right side of the sheets. A first fold is made along the left side of the sheets parallel to the left edge, the first fold covering the left strip having the scented adhesion. A second fold is made along the right side of the sheets parallel to the right edge, the second fold covering the right strip having the scented adhesion. After making the first and second folds, the preferred technique is to fold the sheets substantially in half in a direction orthogonal to the first and second folds. Thus the sheets may be easily stacked on one another in preparation for automated feeding as inserts into mail pieces.

  • Publication number: 20050067767
Abstract: A method and system for correcting the skew in mail-related items, which are caused to move by a driving mechanism in the mailing machine. The driving mechanism comprises at least two driving belts to drive the mail-related items by friction. A plurality of openings are provided on the driving belts so that air pressure can be applied to the mail-related items in order to change the friction between different driving belts and the mail-related items. The air pressure can be positive or negative and it can be applied on the left or right side, or on both sides but with different pressures.

  • Patent number: 4901501
Abstract: Reusable plastic trays of the type adapted to transport large plastic soda bottles generally have cylindrical pockets for receiving the base of the bottle, and these pockets are uniformly spaced with respect to one another in each tray, and also with respect to adjacent bottles in adjacent trays at least when the trays are oriented in end-to-end relationship with respect to one another. This feature is one the present invention takes peculiar advantage of providing for orienting the bottles in two columns, and synchronizing bottle and tray movements so that the bottles can be lowered by their neck rings into the upwardly open pockets of the tray without necessity for periodically interrupting forward movement of the containers and of the trays in an improved continuous motion bottle packer especially suited for use with such reusable plastic trays.
