  • Publication number: 20180009676
Abstract: A method of synthesis of two-dimensional (2D) nanoflakes comprises the cutting of prefabricated nanoparticles. The method allows high control over the shape, size and composition of the 2D nanoflakes, and can be used to produce material with uniform properties in large quantities. Van der Waals heterostructure devices are prepared by fabricating nanoparticles, chemically cutting the nanoparticles to form nanoflakes, dispersing the nanoflakes in a solvent to form an ink, and depositing the ink to form a thin film.

  • Publication number: 20170229618
Abstract: Certain dithio-compounds have been found to be superior capping ligands for quantum dot (QD) nanoparticles. Example dithio-ligands include dithiocarbamate ligands. These strongly binding ligands are capable of coordinating to both positive and negative atoms on the surface of the nanoparticle. The ligands are bi-dentate and thus their approach to the QD surface is not as sterically hindered as is the approach of mono-dentate ligands. These ligands can therefore completely saturate the QD surface.

  • Patent number: 9596075
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and systems for configuring and using one or more block ciphering techniques in order to encrypt/decrypt serial data streams while maintaining cryptographic synchronization and attempting to minimize the amount of overhead introduced into the stream. The techniques disclosed herein may be used to encrypt and decrypt serial data streams using a block cipher in a manner that can be substantially transparent to the devices involved in the serial communication session. For example, the serial user data may be left unframed by the encryption device while monitoring for opportunistic times to transmit framed cryptographic synchronization information during periods of relative inactivity in an asynchronous serial data stream. A cryptographic device implementing the techniques described herein may be configured to implement one or more of an encryption device or a decryption device.
