  • Patent number: 9613320
Abstract: A method and apparatus for identifying information for a product. User input selecting a proxy object in a product design on a computer system is received. The proxy object refers to a number of product standards used in the product design and is associated with a component in the product design. A role of a user is identified. A request for standards information for the component is sent to an interpreter module. The role of the user is included in the request. The standards information is received in a format based on the role of the operator such that the standards information is displayed in the computer system.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: April 4, 2017
    Assignee: THE BOEING COMPANY
Inventors: David P. Knawa, Craig Edward McDonel, Mark A. Dahl, Steven E. Franzen, Donna Wynn McWaters, Darwin G. Reed, Robert J. Schreiber, Geraldine Rae Summers
  • Patent number: 8996151
Abstract: A method for visualization of product build which includes compilation of a virtual temporal configuration of an in-process assembly and visualization of the results using three-dimensional representations of the affected products and associated resources. An illustrative embodiment of the method includes formulating a plurality of installation plans each adapted to direct production of a portion of a product within a build sequence of the product and enabling three-dimensional virtual visualization of a temporal build state of the portion of a product for each of the installation plans.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 8060237
Abstract: A computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer usable program code for manufacturing a product. In response to receiving an identification of the product, a process object associated with the product may be identified. A completed instance of the process object may be created for the product. A set of instructions may be presented to manufacture the product using the completed instance of the process object.

  • Publication number: 20090030661
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for three-dimensional process planning. In one embodiment, one or more manufacturing requirements are received, and an authoritative three-dimensional (3D) computer-aided design (CAD) model of a component is generated or selected. A sub-process associated with the authoritative 3D CAD model of the component is generated based on the one or more manufacturing requirements. The authoritative 3D CAD model of the component is associated with the sub-process using a product-to-process relationship, and the sub-process (or the product-to-process relationship) is included into a process plan. The authoritative 3D CAD model of the component is displayed in a display of a 3D definition of the product in accordance with the product-to-process relationship.

  • Publication number: 20080187897
Abstract: A system and method that makes use of a software module for implementing a work instruction authoring tool having a user selectable output format. In one embodiment the software module is in communication with a single source library containing a plurality of different types of process data for enabling a plurality of different types of work instruction authoring tools to be executed. The software module provides a user selectable output field. This enables the user to select output information from the work authoring tool to be presented in a text window, as an annotation, or as an audio output. Enabling the user to select the output format of information being used to perform a work instruction significantly enhances the flexibility and ease of manipulating and working with various types of data and information while creating or modifying a work instruction.
