Patent number: 11311847Abstract: A mixing agitator, for industrial use in mixing processes, that overcomes disadvantages associated with glass coated mixing agitators in the prior art. In particular, the mixing agitator includes a glass coated metal hub radially symmetrical about a central axis. The hub is at least partially embedded within a fluorinated polymer. The fluorinated polymer extends beyond the hub and forms agitator blades that may be reinforced. The hub has a centrally located receiving portion for receiving a drive shaft for rotating the agitator. The agitator is lighter weight than prior art glass coated steel agitators yet still has excellent chemical resistance and good temperature resistance. The agitator of the invention reduces likelihood of glass damage and permits agitator blade shapes not useable by glass coated agitators in the prior art. The invention also includes a mixing apparatus incorporating the hub and a method for mixing using the agitator.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2018Date of Patent: April 26, 2022Assignee: Pfaudier US, Inc.Inventors: Mark Goldsmith, Morris (Bud) Gruver, III, Mike Keyes, Steven E. Rau

Patent number: 5814175Abstract: A method and apparatus for making a welded thermoplastic polymer article are provided. The method includes the application of a vacuum combined with sufficient heat to make the polymer flowable. The method and apparatus are especially well-suited for welding thermoplastic polymer sheets to the interior of process vessels. The resulting article has improved qualities over articles which are welded by other methods.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1995Date of Patent: September 29, 1998Assignee: Edlon Inc.Inventors: Steven E. Rau, Brian G. Morris, Robert W. Sauer

Patent number: 5599600Abstract: Nozzle repair shields and methods for installing them are provided by this invention. The nozzle repair shield includes a cylindrical body portion having an annular flange disposed from the top end and at least one sealing lip disposed at its lower end. The body portion further includes an annular support band located in its lower end for supporting the sealing lip during insertion and use. The preferred shield is constructed from machined PTFE stock, and further includes resilient spacing members between the sealing lips to further reduce damage to the sealing lips and subsequent loss of a fluid-tight seal.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 1995Date of Patent: February 4, 1997Assignee: Edlon, Inc.Inventor: Steven E. Rau
