Patent number: 12262781Abstract: An article of footwear has an upper that is directly attached with the sole in an article of footwear mold. The sole has a film extending up sidewalls of the sole to a film edge that is prior to the sidewall and the upper joining. Method of manufacture of the article of footwear includes steps of positioning a film over a mold cavity and then securing the film to the mold. The film is heated and then drawn into the mold cavity under a vacuum. The film forms a liner of the mold cavity. A foam composition is injected into the lined mold cavity. As the foam composition expands, the foam composition interacts with and mechanically engages with the upper that is positioned at the mold cavity to allow for the mechanical engagement that results in the direct attachment of the sole to the upper.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 2023Date of Patent: April 1, 2025Assignee: NIKE, Inc.Inventor: Steven Edmund Jan Cornelis Ploem

Patent number: 10906783Abstract: A load placement system precisely places slung loads by allowing a helicopter pilot to essentially reel the load to the ground. The placement system uses lead lines on the slung load that can be connected to the ground by support personnel. A winch system is connected to the lead lines and guides the load to an intended location. The placement system eliminates at least some of the ground personnel previously needed for pulling the load to a target location and orientation. The placement system may eliminate substantially all ground personnel by using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to automatically connect the lead lines to the ground. The UAVs also may actively control the slung load while in flight to reduce pilot workload and enable higher transport speeds.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 2018Date of Patent: February 2, 2021Assignee: COLUMBIA HELICOPTERS, INC.Inventors: Robert Lee Roedts, II, Steven Edmund Bandy

Publication number: 20110118105Abstract: The disclosure relates to apparatus, systems, and methods (a) for performing catalytic reactions using a fixed-bed catalyst (e.g., packed particulate bed or catalyst supported on a monolithic substrate) and (b) for regenerating the catalytic activity of the catalyst. An autothermal reformation (ATR) reaction system is described for illustrative purposes, although the apparatus, systems, and methods can be applied more generally to other catalytic cracking/reformation reaction systems and other catalytic reaction systems, in particular reaction systems in which carbon-based and/or sulfur-based catalyst contaminants are produced during system operation.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 17, 2010Publication date: May 19, 2011Applicant: The Regents of the university of MichiganInventors: Johannes Schwank, Steven Edmund

Patent number: 7197614Abstract: A method and apparatus for mirroring data stored in a storage device within a mass storage system by copying data stored in a first storage device to a second storage device, while simultaneously flushing the write cache. After the two storage devices are synchronized, the applications running on the server that is coupled to the storage devices are temporarily halted to insure that the data is coherent. To obtain coherency, residual data in the write cache may have to be written to both the first and second storage devices. Thereafter, the mirror is broken and the first storage device can begin to be used to store data and the second storage device can be used for other purposes such as facilitating a backup of the data. In this embodiment, since most, if not all, of the data in the write cache is flushed during the time that the first storage device is copied, execution of the applications is only halted for a very short time period.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2003Date of Patent: March 27, 2007Assignee: Xiotech CorporationInventor: Steven Edmund Nowakowski
