  • Publication number: 20060277985
Abstract: A sensor assembly (10) for measuring a speed of a movable member. The sensor assembly (10) includes an enclosure (28) defining a cavity (30). The cavity (30) is defined by a blind hole extending into the enclosure (28). The enclosure (28) is positioned so as to be substantially stationary relative to the movable member. A sensor element (36) is received within the cavity (30) and is disposed to sense movement of the movable member. When the sensor element (36) is received within the cavity (30), a portion of the enclosure (28) is interposed between the sensor element (36) and the movable member. A seal (38) is operatively coupled to the sensor element (36) for substantially excluding contaminants from the cavity (30).

  • Publication number: 20060261803
Abstract: A cassette seal assembly incorporating an element of a sensor system. The seal assembly includes an annular seal member and an annular shield member abutting the seal member to form a monolithic structure. The seal member has a base portion and at least one resilient portion extending from the base portion to resiliently engage another portion of the seal assembly, thereby forming a seal. The seal member and the shield member define an enclosure for receiving and securing at least a portion of the element of the sensor system therein. A cassette sensor system element assembly is also provided including an annular seal member, an annular shield member abutting the seal member to define an enclosure for receiving and maintaining at least a portion of a sensor system element therein, and a sensor system element having at least a portion thereof secured within the enclosure.

  • Publication number: 20050084193
Abstract: A first vehicle wheel bearing has a monolithic shaft including two inner races and has a monolithic outer race assembly. A second bearing has a monolithic shaft including a shoulder and at least one inner race, wherein the shaft is positioned within the bore of a vehicle knuckle member with the shoulder abutting the knuckle. A third bearing has an end cap attached to an outer race assembly and covering the bearing-cavity outboard opening. A fourth bearing has an inboard seal covering the bearing-cavity inboard opening and extending outside the cavity to define a target ring for an ABS speed sensor. A fifth bearing has an ABS speed sensor positioned in the bearing cavity and attached to a shaft proximate the outboard opening and has a target ring positioned in the bearing cavity and attached to the outer race assembly.
