  • Publication number: 20140073734
Abstract: A compound for protection of an object from a blast or shock wave. The compound include a matrix material and at least a first and second sets of inclusions in the matrix material that differ in size, quantity, shape and/or composition in a direction through the impact-absorbing material, the combination of which contributes to the ability of the material to exhibit at least one property that changes as the inclusions are deformed in response to a blast or shock wave.

  • Publication number: 20100100546
Abstract: A method for creation of a semantic information management environment, said method comprised of steps of: providing said semantic information environment consisting of an architecture partitioned according to the classification of the use of natural language by information scale, dynamical properties, or semantic classifications; detection, classification, and storage of semantic and contextual information detected and stored by recording of observed contextual parameters associated with events in said semantic information management environment; said interactions including the use of information management or electronic communication applications embedded or linked to said architecture, or separate from said architecture; said observations including the use of natural language as parameters that have specific semantic properties; detection, classification and storage of use of natural language in said semantic information environment; representation of semantic processes containing said detected, classified

  • Publication number: 20070062249
Abstract: An apparatus is described for calibrating at least one sensor within a gas detector which detector has a gas inlet in fluid communication with the or each sensor, the apparatus comprising a housing that contains: a) a surface for abutting against the detector; b) a holder for holding the gas detector with respect to the housing in such a manner that a region of the detector containing the gas inlet abuts against the surface of the housing to form a sealed gas interface between the surface and the detector; c) a connector for connecting a source of pressurized calibration gas to the apparatus, d) a conduit for delivering a calibration gas from the connector to the interface between the detector and the apparatus housing, e) electrical connections within the holder for forming electrical connections between the apparatus and a detector held within the holder, and e) a flow controller within the conduit for providing calibration gas at a predetermined level to the interface, the flow controller including an elec

  • Publication number: 20030200116
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and a system for collecting medical data derived from medical appliances (1) for example located in intensive care units, and for distributing said data to health practitioners equipped with computer equipment (5). The method and the system comprise the following software modules: (I) a service module (DS) (21); (II) a data storage module (DDS) (25); (III) control modules (DAC) (26) accessible from all points of said computer communication network and controlling the distribution of said data; (IV) an appliance interface module (DDI) (23), configured according to specific characteristics of said transmitting appliances (1); (V) a communication interface module (DCI) (22); (VI) a configuration interface module (DCP) (28); (VII) a data portal module (DDP) (40) converting the data into a communication format of clinical analysis software (5 e ) of the computer equipment (5) of the user (3).

  • Patent number: 4071479
Abstract: Recompoundable polyvinyl chloride suitable to be recompounded for reuse, for example, in cable and wire production is recovered from a scrap material which includes plasticized polyvinyl chloride. A charge of plasticized polyvinyl chloride scrap material is treated with a solvent such as methyl ethyl ketone, tetrahydrofuran, cyclohexanone or dimethyl formamide to form a solvent mixture with one component thereof being a solvent solution of dissolved vinyl chloride polymer and plasticizers. The mixture is heated and agitated and scrap metal and other gross solids, if present, are removed. Then the solvent mixture is treated with an acid which advantageously causes a flocculation of suspended insolubles such as pigments and fillers. Except when using cyclohexanone as the solvent, the treatment with the acid must be accomplished, unexpectedly, in the presence of an additional flocculating agent such as a cellulose acetate which is soluble in the solution and which is insolubilized by the acid on refluxing.
