Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing a user interface for an electronic device are described. Described embodiments include methods and apparatus for generating a user interface element, expanding a user interface element, transitioning subject information in a user interface element, and removing a user interface element.

Abstract: A retail display arrangement includes multiple video displays disposed on a wall in an arrangement. A content server causes a shopper terminal to present a user interface (UI) with video feature selectors. A shopper can select a feature and in response the content server sends content enhanced with the feature to some but not all of the displays, with the same content, not enhanced with the feature, being shown on a remaining display to better illustrate the feature to the shopper. The UI presents windows mimicking the display arrangement, and each window indicates whether the corresponding display on the wall presents content enhanced with the feature.

Abstract: A television (TV) includes a display and a processor controlling the display and receiving signals representing human gestures. The processor is programmed to respond to gestures from a first viewer to control the display. Also the processor is programmed to respond to gestures from a second viewer to control the display only responsive to a determination that the first viewer has both looked toward the second viewer, and that the first viewer has confirmed, as a separate act from looking toward the second viewer, a desire to transfer control of the TV to the second viewer.

Abstract: A device includes at least one computer readable storage medium bearing instructions executable by a processor and at least one processor configured for accessing the computer readable storage medium to execute the instructions. The instructions configure the processor for accessing terrain information representing preferred terrain of a user of the device, accessing map information, accessing location information indicating current location of the user, and receiving user input indicating a desire for route information. Based at least in part on time constraints indicated from calendar information, the instructions configure the processor for accessing the location information, terrain information, and map information to determine a route and audibly and/or visually displaying the route on the device.

Abstract: Two friends can pair wireless communication devices which subsequently exchange positional information peer-to-peer or through a cloud server. Each device presents a map showing its location and the location of the paired device. Instructions can be provided to the device playing a follower role of how to reach the current location of the other device, which plays a leader role. In turn the leader device can present information as to the location of the follower device so that a user of the leader device can ascertain if the follower is off-track.

Abstract: A system for remotely controlling one or more components coupled to a display or TV. Remote application software is provided on the TV for communicating a first signal between remote control and the processor via a receiver coupled to the processor, the remote application software comprises a graphical user interface for output on the, wherein the graphical user interface allows a user to assign the buttons on the remote keypad first to one or more commands that operate one or more external devices coupled to the display.

Abstract: A media type currently associated with a multiple media player device is determined by the multiple media player device. A current setting status associated with each of a set of adjustable options associated with the determined media type is determined. A set of option icons that each represents one of the set of adjustable options is identified. Each identified option icon is paired with the associated current setting status of each adjustable option. A menuing input is detected. An overlay user interface menu, including only one option icon and the associated current setting status pair, is displayed over full-screen content on a display. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.

Abstract: A headphone device is positioned close to a buddy headphone to establish a pairing to share transmission information between the headphones automatically. When one of the headphones starts playing music, using the transmission information the music is sent to the other headphone, which plays the music so that both headphone wearers listen to the same music simultaneously with each other. Also, each headphone may include a microphone and the users of the headphones can communicate with each other using the microphones in a walkie-talkie fashion, which is facilitated by the transmission information from the pairing.

Abstract: When a driver leaves a vehicle as indicated by a separation event such as the driver's portable wireless communication device (WCD) losing Bluetooth connectivity with the vehicle, the WCD uploads to a cloud server its GPS location before the driver has been able to walk away from the vehicle an appreciable distance. The location is recorded and the driver subsequently can use its WCD to communicate with the server to obtain map information showing the current location of the WCD and the location recorded at the separation event, so that the driver knows the location of her vehicle relative to her current location.

Abstract: Receiving commands from a remote controller and automatically activating display areas for cursor navigation. Content display areas within a display frame respectively correspond to a variety of content items and include a primary display area wherein cursor navigation is activated and secondary display areas wherein cursor navigation is prevented. Remote controller navigational commands, for example, then allow cursor based navigation for the content item currently displayed in the primary display area. A content selection command such as a number key input of the remote controller allows immediate and automatic updating of the primary display area to include a desired content item that is associated to the command (e.g., the particular number).

Abstract: A user of a wireless communication device (WCD) is reminded to stop at a store along a route of the user's vehicle based on a list of items needed, geographic location, and previous established behavior patterns, e.g., whether the user has stopped at a particular store close to the current time of day, along the current route of the vehicle, one or more times before. Shopping locations are verified at the location with a simple confirmation dialog on the WCD and suggested names are provided from a list of points of interests. Items to be purchased can then be added to a location-based shopping list by using a digital camera on the WCD to image the item and/or the barcode of the item and find the item in a database of images and barcodes.
