  • Patent number: 6767469
Abstract: A method for separating at least one compound from a liquid mixture containing different compounds where anew crystalline manganese phosphate composition with the formula Mn3(PO4)4.2(H3NCH2CH2)3N.6(H2O) is dispersed in the liquid mixture, selectively intercalating one or more compounds into the crystalline structure of the Mn3(PO4)4.2(H3NCH2CH2)3N.6(H2O).

Date of Patent: July 27, 2004
    Assignee: Sandia Corporation
Inventors: Steven G. Thoma, Francois R. Bonhomme
  • Patent number: 6716275
Abstract: A process for fabricating a gas impermeable seal on a porous ceramic surface using a thin, glass-based, pinhole free glaze. The process can be used to fabricate gas impermeable end seals on porous alumina tubes used as filter media. The porous alumina tubes can have an inorganic microporous thin film separation membrane on the inner surface, which can be used for high temperature gas separation processes.

  • Patent number: 6494326
Abstract: A new class of composite zeolite membranes and synthesis techniques therefor has been invented. These membranes are essentially defect-free, and exhibit large levels of transmembrane flux and of chemical and isotopic selectivity.

  • Patent number: 5591097
Abstract: In a transmission with a countershaft and a planetary reduction gear unit, particularly for automobiles, having an input shaft (1) an output shaft (2), an intermediate shaft (23) fixed and loose pinions and gears which are in constant mesh alternately with one another and are releasably connectable to the shafts. The planetary reduction gear unit (28) comprises a ring gear (30) fixed against rotation, a sun wheel (33) driven by way of a set of pinions and gears and mounted on the intermediate shaft (23) and a planet carrier (32) connected to the output shaft. A member of a pinion-gear pair (16) is carried by the intermediate shaft (23) and is releasably connectable to the intermediate shaft (23) and the output shaft (2).

  • Patent number: 5564997
Abstract: A multiple-speed ratio transmission mechanism for an automotive vehicle includes a torque input shaft, an output shaft and intermediate shaft rotatably supported. Multiple pinion gear pairs are supported on the shafts. Two adjacent pinion-gear pairs are associated with two speed ratios. A planetary gear unit, including a sun gear, ring gear, and a set of planet pinions rotatably supported on a carrier, has its input connected to the intermediate shaft and its output connected to the output shaft. Each forward pinion-gear pairs is releasably coupled to one of the intermediate shaft and the output shaft.

  • Patent number: 5526709
Abstract: A multiple-speed ratio transmission mechanism for an automotive vehicle includes a torque input shaft, an output shaft, an intermediate shaft, these three shafts rotatably supported on a common axis, and a countershaft mounted parallel to the other shafts. Multiple pinion-gear pairs are supported on the three coaxial shafts and countershaft. A planetary gear unit, including a sun gear, ring gear, and a set of planet pinions rotatably supported on a carrier, has its input connected to the intermediate shaft and the output connected to the output shaft. Synchronizers drivably connect a member of the pinion-gear pairs to one of the shafts. A shift mechanism transmits motion of a shift lever to shift forks that move synchronizer sleeves into engagement with the selected gear.
