  • Publication number: 20070151656
Abstract: A process for producing an upholstered article in a bladder mold. A cover sheet with adhesive is positioned over the opened bladder mold. A foam core is inserted into the bladder mold, carrying the cover sheet into engagement with the bladder. The bladder mold is then closed so that the bladder wraps the marginal portion of the cover sheet around the foam core. After the adhesive cures to bond the cover sheet to the foam core, the mold is opened; and the article is removed.

  • Publication number: 20050167886
Abstract: A method for making visor cores is disclosed. The method includes sequentially molding visor cores, and interconnecting the visor cores as they are molded to form a chain of visor cores. The visor cores remain oriented relative to one another, and the visor cores can be sequentially positioned in a cooling fixture and a flexing fixture. The chain of visors can be wound on a spool or the like for transport.

  • Publication number: 20050012234
Abstract: A process for producing a cushioned product having a foam core and integral cover comprises molding a formed cover from a substantially non-porous, formable sheet material in a flexible bladder vacuum forming operation, and then injecting a reactive liquid foam into an open interior of the cover in a reaction injection mold. In one embodiment, the cover comprises an adhesively formed laminate having a porous fabric outer layer and a substantially non-porous thermo formable closed cell inner layer. In another embodiment, the cover is formed of a sheet of polyvinyl chloride having a decorative exterior finish. In either case, the cover, is sufficiently thin and flexible that the cover is readily formable and does not adversely impair the softness characteristics of the foam cushion core.
