  • Publication number: 20210108275
Abstract: The subject invention pertains to biomarkers for identifying BC in a subject. The biomarkers presented herein include miRNAs, particularly, a combination of miRNAs. The invention demonstrates that the specific miRNAs are increased body fluid, particularly, urine, from a subject compared to that of a control. Accordingly, the levels of specific mRNAs, in a body fluid, particularly, urine, from a subject is used to diagnose BC in a subject. The invention also provides kits and reagents to conduct assays to quantify biomarkers described herein. The invention further provides methods of treating and/or managing BC in a subject.

  • Patent number: 9964542
Abstract: Compositions, kits, and methods for the diagnosis, prognosis, and monitoring of bladder cancer in a subject are provided by detecting in a urine sample a combination of biomarkers. In one embodiment of the invention, biomarker panels consisting of individual targets listed in Tables 4 through 10 may be detected. In another embodiment of the invention, multiplex biomarker panels of various composition, but including those biomarkers listed above may be detected.

  • Patent number: 9249467
Abstract: Compositions, kits, and methods for the diagnosis, prognosis, and monitoring of bladder cancer in a subject are provided by detecting in a urine sample a combination of biomarkers. In one embodiment of the invention, a nine-biomarker panel consisting of IL-8, MMP9, SDC1, CCL18, SERPINE1, CD44, VEGF-A, CA9, and ANG may be detected. In another embodiment of the invention, a three-biomarker panel consisting of CCL18, CD44, and VEGF-A may be detected. In yet another embodiment of the invention, a nine-biomarker panel consisting of CA9, CCL18, MMP12, TMEM45A, MMP9, SEMA3D, ERBB2, CRH, and MXRA8 may be detected.

  • Patent number: 8781750
Abstract: Among the methods, compositions, combinations and kits provided herein are those for determining gene expression levels in one or more cell types in heterogeneous cell samples, for identifying genes differentially expressed in different cell types, and for detecting a cell type in a sample from a subject. Also provided herein are methods, compositions, combinations and kits for determining gene expression levels in cells corresponding to phenotypes, and for identifying a phenotype of a subject by detecting differentially expressed genes.

  • Publication number: 20050143334
Abstract: The multi-step nature of metastasis poses difficulties in both design and interpretation of experiments to unveil the mechanisms causing the process. In order to facilitate such studies a pair of breast tumor cell lines that originate from the same breast tumor, but have diametrically opposite metastatic capabilities have been derived. Comparison of the two cell lines has revealed a number of genes that are differentiallay expressed. The invention is the identification of these differences. The invention is the use of knowledge of the differential gene expression to develop novel therapeutic and diagnostic methods for cancer.
