  • Patent number: 9163894
Abstract: Laser transmission systems mountable on firearms are disclosed along with methods of operating and configuring the same. The laser transmissions systems are configured to detect that a sequence of real-time mechanical vibrations on the firearm are in accordance with a predetermined characteristic firing signature of the firearm. In response, the laser transmission system initiates transmission of a laser to simulate a munitions strike. The predetermined characteristic firing signature is based on a sequence of predetermined mechanical vibrations resulting from a first pre-flash firing event and a subsequent second pre-flash firing event. In this manner, the laser transmission system initiates transmission of the laser prior to a flash event and more accurately approximates a bullet trajectory.

  • Patent number: 8498815
Abstract: A method on a computer unit for calculating and transmitting position data is disclosed. The method includes monitoring motion of the unit. If motion of the unit is detected, the method further includes initiating a start sequence of the unit, calculating current position data of the unit using the Global Positioning System (GPS), calculating a difference between the current position data of the unit and a previous position data of the unit and transmitting the current position data of the unit if the difference is greater than a threshold value.

  • Patent number: 8408908
Abstract: Embodiments include a non-pyrotechnic detonation simulator. The simulator includes a substrate, a plurality of capacitors fixed with respect to the substrate, a voltage source, and a controller. The controller is electrically coupled to the capacitors and is adapted to selectively direct a burst voltage from the voltage source to one or more of the capacitors to cause the one or more of the plurality of capacitors to burst.

  • Patent number: 8408909
Abstract: A non-pyrotechnic cueing device for use in non-lethal gunfire activities. The cueing device includes a fluid container for containing a fluid, and a fluid discharge assembly in communication with the fluid container. The fluid discharge assembly is adapted to force the fluid from the fluid container through an opening of the fluid container upon activation. A trigger having an engaged position with respect to the fluid discharge assembly and a disengaged position with respect to the fluid discharge assembly is adapted to activate the fluid discharge assembly upon movement to the disengaged position. A thermally responsive non-pyrotechnic trigger actuator is coupled to the trigger and is adapted to selectively move the trigger to the disengaged position.

  • Patent number: 8128405
Abstract: An apparatus for communicating simulation data is disclosed. The apparatus includes an assembly for mounting the apparatus on an edifice. The apparatus further includes a receiver for receiving simulation data from a plurality of players within a specified area of the edifice and for receiving simulation data from a central controller. The apparatus further includes a transmitter for transmitting simulation data to the plurality of players and to the central controller, wherein simulation data is transmitted to the central controller only when a simulation event occurs. In one alternative, the apparatus further includes an infrared camera for capturing video and still images of simulation events. In another alternative, the apparatus includes an infrared radiator for producing infrared light for illuminating video and still images captured by the infrared camera.
