  • Patent number: 8002375
Abstract: A system including a control module and a vibration generator. The control module is configured to communicate with a printhead having a plurality of nozzles to eject ink onto a print medium to create an image on the print medium. The control module is configured to detect a malfunction of a first nozzle of the plurality of nozzles. The malfunction of the first nozzle causes ink not be ejected onto a first portion of the print medium. The vibration generator, in response to the malfunction of the first nozzle, is configured to vibrate the printhead synchronously with at least one of (i) a timing of firing of the plurality of nozzles and (ii) a speed of the print medium. Ink is at least partially ejected by a second nozzle of the plurality of nozzles, which is adjacent to the first nozzle, onto the first portion of the print medium.
